Most of the time the tabs do break off, that's why I started making replacement spring keepers""" at least you were able to save yours,
I like the way the bracket turned out with the new spring. I have the other spring so I think I will do the other side. I would like one of your brackets. Sent you a PM
Thanks Byron

Replaced the spring today. I loosened the tabs on one side, well they both broke off, and got the spring in. There was enough tab still sticking through the hole that I just spot welded and ground back smooth. It worked very well so that is done.

Restoration Specialties in Pa might have those springs but they will need a sample to compare. Their number is 814-467-9842 and hours are 9-5 eastern time.
Ordered a couple of eBay but if they don't work I will check this out.
Thanks Byron

Thank you very much for responding to my post. It takes guys like you to make this hobby so great. I just finished a 64 falcon sprint and this is my first older vehicle. I will have a learning curve. If I need one of your keepers I will let you know.
Again Thanks Byron

Not sure if I would go with pita's advice at all. He must have got lucky, not to many are come right off. I would say using his advice you be needing excusions as you bend the crap out of the slamming a hammer to the shaft. Right way and a wrong way trust me!!
I got lucky as there was no damage to the shaft or the echelons. It did push out the dimples in the sleeve but I think I can push it back on and re-dimple it with a punch. I did find a drivers door handle so when it gets here I will send to the chromer.

Thanks, I got the collar below that off and the mounting plate came right off. I will not have to do what you are showing. I do have another question: Can you get the lock re-keyed or do I need to find a new lock?
-
I used a couple pieces of wood under each side of the echelon and tapped the end of the shaft with a hammer. The sleeve came right off and I think I will be able to reuse it. I may need a new spring. Will try to find a drivers door handle and then I will send them to the chromer.

Does anyone make reproduction exterior door handles for a 34 dodge? Also I am looking for the frame around the inside of the drivers door.
Thanks, Byron

My 2 ton has a one piece seat frame but then the gas tank was mounted behind the cab on the frame.

I bought this truck from a friend in the late 90's. The story he told was that a family from Mass. loaded all their property on the truck and was headed to Califorina during the depression. Near Maxwell, NE the engine blow up and they sold all their stuff that they could not carry. They sold the truck to a local family and took the bus or train to Califorina. The truck was parked and as far as we know it was never fixed. My friend never got around to restoring it and sold it to me. I do plan to start restoring it after I get a car done.
This is the only picture that I have as it is setting in the back of my pole barn. Some day soon I hope to get started.

I have a 34 K-47 two ton. Not restored yet but is stored inside. I also have the parts and repair manuals for this truck.

Your WH 47 is a 2 ton. Also you can you can use the 2 speed shift in any of the gears. Meaning you can test to see if it works in the lower gears.

Six cylinder 3 speed, four door. No rust and original car with very little body damage. I drove this car on the trailer and around our place for several days before taking the chopped up wiring harness out. The wife has lost interest in this car and I have to many tractor projects. $2,500 OBO 308-535-0200 bjs1@accessdirectwb.net
