  7. 48 ford f2 with a stromberg 94 i barrel carb, idles ok but lately spits and sputters at higher speeds driving. i try adjusting hand choke it evens out for a few seconds then back to hesitation and bogging down. i recently did a full tuneup ,plugs, wires, points, condensor, cap and rebult fuel pump. i wonder if i didnt set points correctly or something?
  8. i've been a buyer and seller on ebay for years and have bought 90% of my ole gal (48 ford)parts and have turned around and sold old car/truck parts from swap meets/flea markets and picked and pulled stuff...without any significant trouble in my particular catagory(48 ford)85 dodge ram(65 elcamino) some catagory's of vintage vehicles are unfortunately a lot to be desired because of their general scarcisty . i just save the search option in "my ebay" and check email me with alerts when new parts are auctioned and check daily.
  9. I installed an original outside mirror on my ole gal that i found on ebay!
  10. I had a similar problem with my 48 ford f2, i drained radiator and flushed then changed thermostats and added a aftermarket overflow vottle, i think the over flow bottle was the trick though seems it was boiling over and loosing water/coolant causing it to overheat, the overflow obviously retains the coolant now and it runs butifully!

I t could be maybe the gauge is faulty itself which is why I get no reading or just my own stupidity so i bought another and aim to hook it up when arrives and want to be sure im going about it right. Ive provided pics to show back of gauge to illicit any help out there please!<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <FIELDSET class=fieldset><LEGEND>Attached Thumbnails</LEGEND> </FIELDSET></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

  18. Greetings, my 48 ford f2,(4spd) speedometer dial did a quick flip up and down and suddenly quit, how do i go about checking to see where it is damaged and replace?
  19. I bought an antique veh. back in 2004 in Illinois. (not running) and have since restored it and now want to get inspection and license but Missouri lic. office says I owe back deliquent sales taxes (ouch!)I was given a form ST-556 from the dealer at the time from Illinois called a sales tax transaction return showing exempt as a out of state buyer. Does this form neeed to be presented to Missouri lic. office to get me a break here?
  20. it does not have an ignition module or ballister so those items are not an issue.
  21. my 86 dodge d150 is exibiting the same symptoms. ive replaced dist. cap/coil/coil wire/fuel filter/rotor.it backfired through exhaust about a week ago and now it will run but stop on me about a half hour or so later and won't start for about two hours. ive ruled out vapor lock as well. carb is getting fuel ok too. could this be the magnetic pickup in the dist.?
  22. I've dealt on ebay for a while myself both as a seller and buyer and believe you me I can share some terrific stories in the the short 2 years I've been ebaying. its the easiest place in the world for scammers to do business and they'll tell you that!My felings go out to your nephew over his bad experiance and his hard lesson learned. Now following up on my situation in recent days Ive forwarded all this guys emails to the Missouri attorney generals office and sure enough got a reply already that this indeed was a fabricated web site out of the UK trying to lure car sellers into transactions promising to wire funds directly to their bank and sound all business like with solicitations such as sending "processing team" to your locale to finalize deal. Anyway i hope my attempt to ALERT others has helped and reminded us to be vigilant. Not everyone is a scammer BUT Not everyone is honest!

    What year is it?

you might also try a visual search at www.countryclassiccars.com. they got a couple of dodge pickups listed in this era.
  24. Thank you all for the information and I hope passing this along helped others to stay vigilant as well. It smelled like fish bait from the start especially when I was asked for my personal information and the name of my bank to forward a check to."charley " is lurking so lets all be careful out there!
  25. My apologies if I came across brash about this and I didn't want to come across as labeling folks in the UK as "crooks" but I'm pretty new at this and it just seemed odd to me that someone was so willing to send a check over to my bank as a down payment then followup with "driver processors to test drive vehicle. I mean is this the way it's done? How on earth do I know who I'm dealing with under these circumstances. How far do I go with this process before I'm sucked too far in before I know it and am whamooo'd? Can someone such as yourself (1937hd45) guide me through a large sale like this with an potential buyer out of the country as far as what is customary and what looks phony , those sort of things. thank you!
