  2. I had the same problem on my 49 Windsor, wasn't sure if is was the gauge, sending unit,or wiring. I bought a new gauge off E-bay and pulled the sending unit out of the tank, I checked to make sure the cork was still good the sending units arm (not gone or water-logged). I then ran power to the new gauge and ran a line to the sending unit and grounded them. When I move the arm on the sending unit the needle on the new fuel gauge moved so I knew the unit was good, with the sending unit still out I ran a line to the fuel gauge in the car and with ing on move the arm on the sending unt and the needle moved as i move the arm on the sending unit,,I then reinstalled the sending unit and ran new wire. hope this help....Mark
  3. My 49 Windsor had a similar problem, had no spark at the plug, replaced the coil and still no spark..found the problem.. my dist cap was bad the graphite ball was gone and not sending the spark out. If u want I can check where the wires from the coil hook up ....Mark

  5. My 49 windsor gauge didn't work either so I took the sending unit out of the tank and ran new wire from the gauge to the sending unit (at the gauge I cut the old wire off to the sending unit) and grounded the sending unit and worked the arm on the unit to see of the needle move which it did so my problem was a bad connection someone ,I just ran new wire and the gauge works fine.
  6. Has anyone removed their rear drums, I removed the kotter pin and nut and made a 6"x1/2 thick rd plate to bolt to the front of the drum via the lugs and loosed the rear adj bolts for the brake shoes the drum spins free soaked it with penetrating oil but for the life of I cannot get the drum to pop off I'm using a 3 jaw puller. This drum has never been off and thinking it has rusted to the shaft, should I put a torch on it and heat it up and have a go at it. I have to replace the brake piston. Any suggestion, advice, tips would be great. Mark
