    Need expert opinions

I know the seller, nothing fishy here just a good Packard. Wish I had got it.
  2. where do you get a lead substitute and what is it called? Brand?
  3. do you guys use any kind of additive with your gas and what octane is best?
  4. I've had one post war Packard and no pre-war. Anyway, a friend of mine called and said his 120 ran bone dry out of gas while running in his garage. I know this is simple but I've never had that happen and told him to let me get the experts (you guys) opinions on how to get her going again.
  5. I saw where a decent looking pre-war coupe and sedan didn't fetch very much on ebay. Now I'm wondering if $12K is too much for this 39 sedan?
  6. I was thinking somewhere like $10-12K. Also, your right the interior is not the original type material or pattern. Should that hurt the price also? It was done well though.
  7. Solid #3 39 120 sedan. Please look at the pics and give me your opinion as to value. Remember it's a solid #3 and I'm trying to figure out what to offer. Thanks
  8. I am currently looking at a 54 Clipper Deluxe that is in #2 condition. This is really a very nice car but the owner is asking $11,900. I feel like that is too much, what do you guys think? It really is a #2 car.
  9. Motor # checks out, it's a second series.
  10. O.K. let me rephrase that, the engine was taken apart and verified by it's condition that it was definintely 14K original miles. It was not rebuilt but cleaned to perfection and it runs like a new Packard, great. Also, it is a 4 dr. Custom 8 sedan everything inside is original and absolutely stunning. The only thing not original is the paint and it was done correctly and is a superb job. The color is correct.
  11. Boys, I have found a 1949 Custom 8 with 14000 original proven miles that has been restored using almost all NOS Packard parts including complete engine rebuild. The car is not perfect but it sure is close, seriously! This is the best Packard I've ever seen and I can buy it right now for $19500. What do you think? My wife says do it but I'm just not sure. I'm not exaggerating at all on the description.
  12. I thought I posted this awhile back buy couldn't find it. Anyway, 1950 Packard engines should all be gray, right? So how hard is it to paint the block the original color without removing it and make it look good? Any little tips or tricks would be helpful.

    Phoenix area

Talked with Pete and he can't look at the car for me in the Phoenix area. What a nice man to talk with though. Anyone in the Phoenix area that could look at a 1950 Custom 8 for me? Post a response or send me a private message. Thanks!

  17. Anyone in the Phoenix area that could look at a 1950 Packard Custom 8 for me? I am thinking about buying this car and can't go see it myself, sure could use a pair of honest eyes that can see it and touch it. Please either post your info or send me a private message. Thank you!

    50 Custom 8

I guess my immediate problem is I can't physically go see it and touch. Just to far away, anyone on here close to this Packard?

    50 Custom 8

I wouldn't say it is show and go, I would say it is between a 2 and 3 condition. Probably a 2.5 condition. Engine is not as detailed as it could be. Does the interior look like the correct pattern and/or material?

    50 Custom 8

What do you guys think of this one? I been looking at it and just might buy it, always wanted a Custom 8. A little steep maybe on the asking price? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1950-Pack...1QQcmdZViewItem
  21. I haven't had to buy a battery ever for my 48 Super 8. Anyway, where can I get the kind/style of battery I need? The long rectangle 6 volt.

    1941 Clipper 8

did you feel the $24K was too much? Or did you buy it?

    1941 Clipper 8

Well, while the subject of value has come up. What about a 36 120B touring sedan in excellent Original condition? A legit #2 condition.
  24. A friend of mine is interested in the 48 Custom convertible on ebay, no link I am too stupid. Just go to ebay motors, then collector cars, then Packard and scroll down until you see it. Anyway, the car is green and the dash is green also, was that a correct or standard dash color then. I thought they were all wood grain color? Thanks
  25. I think you are right about not having an overheating problem. I drove it 25 miles in 95 degree heat and high humidity and it did fine. It never got above the 3/4 way on the temp. gauge. I still woud feel better if it stayed around the halfway mark though. After the 25 mile drive it never read more than 203 degrees and mostly in the mid to upper 190s. Don't these engines naturally go up about 10-15 degrees when shut off right after driving?
