Thank you for the in depth explanation. This will be a rewarding job. Between the pictures and with the measurements I can't wait to get started! Thank you, Mike
Bob, As always your help is greatly appreciated. Seeing your pictures will allow me to fabricate the prop. I will be asking you for a few critical measurements when I start, mainly the sliding bar. I am guessing the torsion springs allow the bar to lock and then stow itself depending on the position of the lid (open or closed). I assume the weight of the bar plays a large part in the spring action. Thank you
Does anyone have a picture of a trunk lid prop used on a 1931 coupe? My car is a 96 series and I haven't a clue as to what holds the trunk lid in an open position. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mike
Thank you very much for the help Bob. After looking at the column for many hours, I suspected that may be the way it came apart. I was afraid of doing damage so my wife told me to ask for help on this forum...once again, she was right. Mike
My 31 has wood demountables...the threaded hubcaps with the discs and identical "B" ... but curtain #3 matches the sidemount covers perfectly therefore I agree with Joel. Mike
I need to remove my steering wheel to repair some cracks and want to replate the H/L switch and throttle controls. The car is a 1931 model 96. I have tried turning the horn button to gain access like many cars of this era but the button doesn't want to pop out??? Does anyone have any thoughts on how to proceed on removing the wheel? Thanks for any advice. Mike
Thank you Bob. This helps greatly, as my car has 11 leaves. It was used as a wrecker in the early 60's, I am restoring it to its original condition. Thank you, Mike Lepak
