  1. Check inlet air supply area by wiper motor area. Does the air volume increase when the heater is engaged? If so, the problem would not be outside air supply but maybe a buildup in the air conditoning box on the firewall. Dave
  2. Charlie; What are TSB's and the Prom you mentioned? I have the same problem.
  3. Only comes on when interior is at about 100 degrees. Screen still works when it's not lit, but you have to use the instructon manual to use. Why?????????
  4. still can't see inner workings only outer ball socket flange and inner socket. removed all covers.
  5. I've always regreted selling a 1940 lincoln customized roadster at movieworld in about 1974. With it was a 1949 motortrend magazine featuring my car with it's cutdown curved top doors. I thought it might have led the Pasadena New years parade with Buzz Aldren in about 2000. If anyone has any info., please let me know. This to me like a long lost child. I drank too much champagne talking with Buddie Hacket and Mel Blanc and dumped for 2500. Dave S
  6. I plan to take off the Rr. end cover to see if there is movement. How does the torquetube come out in case the prob. is inside it? Also, oil press. for engine 3/4 on gage but rockers not spitting oil. I cleaned small line to and from filter can and removed filter and blew out upper feed line with lubespray can. This car was stored or parked for a long time (50yrs maybe) but runs great (41,000 miles). Can was cleaned and new oil before starting. I'm a pretty good shadetree mechanic but can use good input, are you there Joe?
  7. I backed off tappets before trying to start my 49 Buick Super thinking it had solid lifters. It has hydraulics and started tonite after many years of storage, naturally I did all the obvious things one must do before starting an engine after a long time. The lifters start to thumping after running a few minutes. I'm assuming the oil is not able to keep the lifter filled because of my backing of adj. screws. Please advise!
  8. I work with the Sloan occasionaly and have seen this car down in the basement. It looks like a "37 Buick dual sidemount limo.. Is it for sale? Dave
  9. I recently aquired a black 49 Super/41,000 on speedometer, all original (Need radiator) and hasn't been driven since the 50's I suspect,(two original wide whites) in the trunk. "Marfak" lube stickers (1956) Mayville Mi. I got the engine freed up with dot 3 brake fluid and flywheel pry/screws (not excessive)hand torque. Rockerarm area clean. Stick shift. Hoping to find history. My dad's banker, a Leo Walker of Caro, Mi. had a new one at our farm in about 1949 or 50. When Leo died the car went to the area this one came from. Also I owned a 49 in the last two years of high school and the first year at GMI and raced the h--- out of it and it didn't break. You're right, I want to preserve the patena of this car because of my appreciation for the car as it was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
