Read the attached article I found in one of my old "Antique Auto mag.
My truck is 28 "E" series Dodge Bros. The radiator is quite unquie.
I am aware of a 28 "E" series Graham Bros also. These were transistion years.
Also notice picture of a 27 Graham. Seems to be some minor differences.
Thanks for the info. I what I am able to read, the eyes just don't focus like they used to, it seems to me that what I have a a DB Four Screen, probably one of the ones that they continued making under the DB name. Especially since the ID number shows that it came off the assembly line in late 27. I am pretty satisfied that what I have is a DB and that my research was right. Seems to me that the GB were more heavy duty trucks where this four screen is light weight and if I actually measure the wheel base I will find that it is the smaller of the two.
Thanks for you info, I appreciate it.

I'm kinda lost right now. I am being told that the truck we have, our 27 / 28 DB Four Screen (Paddy Wagon) is not a DB at all. I am being told that it is a Graham Brothers truck. All the info I have shows it to be a DB. All markings, hub caps , radiator cowl emblem, ID plate and everything else I found at the start of the project showed it to be a DB. This was why it was registered as a DB Four Screen Express. I found the serial numbers showed that it had come out of the factory around Oct of 1927, but had been registered as a 28. Just figured that it was first registered when it was actually purchased. I was also told that it had been purchased at Surplus from the U.S. Army, figuring that it came from Camp Cook, Camp Roberts, Camp San Luis or maybe even from the POW camp that was built just north of Goleta, CA., the POW Camp was never populated and this would account for the fact the the truck was not OD green.
Anyway, I would like to know that the truck is in fact a DB and not GB. Is there anyway to find out, for sure?

Wow, so much to learn, so little time!
Thanks for sharing.

Hello all!
I need to get my 6v generator rebuilt. The Armature is a Northeast Electric #39477, Model #LR Type 6334B.
Also need the Cutout Relay, 6v and 3 brushes for same.
If anyone can tell me who re-builds these old generators I would be very appreciative.
Please email me any contacts. juantejeda@yahoo.com
Thank you!

Looks to be a late '26 Graham
May be....But the owner is calling it a 27 or 28 DB.

Hello all,
I found a 1928 Flatbed DB, not sure but pretty sure it is a 3/4 ton. Pretty much what I have, only flatbed. It is located in Ventura, CA. It is supposed to be pretty complete, except for the Exhaust manifold, which the owner sold to me for my Four Screen.
If any one is interested, if I recall, he is asking around $1,500 for it all. Get hold of me and I will give you the info.
No pictures of it, but can probably get some.

Juan, also having a '28 Model A I know what your talking about. The Ford catalogs have two types...Hood Prop Kit or Hood prop support spring set. Both use the two hood rods (on fords) to connect each type. Problem with DB is there is only one hood rod (rod from firewall to rad.). I bought the hood prop kit and will attempt to get it to work. Basically attach to hood rod and....there are two unused holes in my firewall that have no apparent purpose which if I insert and double nut 3" bolts (making rods) that would provide add'l attachment points. If I back up the cab side of the firewall nuts with plates or large washers it may provide enough support for the weight of the hood...not sure...we'll see. The other diff with DB hoods is that I think the two sides might hit each other before both sides are full up...Ford does not have that problem. DB put plated rivets on each side of the hood to protect paint when laid over on each other...guess never designed to be propped up? Bill
Thanks for the info. I had never really thought about how they attached. Let me know if you are successful in your endeavors with adding the rods and post some pics if it works.

Does anyone know if there are Hangers (for the lack of a better term), for the 27/28 DB Four Screen hood. I have seen Fords with both sides of their engine compartment open, displaying both sides of their engines at the same time. Can you do that with DB's? I have looked at mine and don't really see how you do it.
Any help out there?

Yes, the number is A795272 and no I don't have that DB Club News for Aug/Sept 20 10. Not sure why it's so confusing. All I know is that t his truck was all original and this is what it is. I am sure that it was registered when it was first titled. The engine, if I recall is a C. Don't know why it has that engine, but it does and it is the original engine, as best as I know. I also don't know why it was not painted OD green, as most all military vehicles were painted, unless it was never meant to go over seas. If they ordered it for the Prisoner of War Camp in Goleta or if was used at the Military Prison at Camp Cook (now Lompoc Federal Prison), they may have kept it the color it came from the factory in. There are many unanswered questions, but it is what it is.

It was n't too bad, just have to go at it slow and be careful. Probably should have taken some pics, but we didn't. Just take your time and it will work out. This was the first time and we were a little worried about screwing it up, but it seems to be working fine, at least for now,

This sure looks like my four screen, only in a Pick-up and it has the two horizontal ribs on the doors.
But whatever, mine is registered as a 28 DB because that's what the paperwork showed and CA DMV accepted that. The VIN number verifies that it is a DB and it came off the assembly line in late 27, and could have very well been registered, the first time, in 28. Like I said, I believe it was a US Army vehicle that was surplus and purchased after it did it's military duty. WOuld like to be able to verify that, but I was unable to interview the man that purchased it from military surplus. My info was at least second hand, mostly 3rd hand.

Well he got me alright! As for the switch, I think we got ours working. We finished rebuilding it and it seems to be working fine.
Thanks to all of you for your help and input.
By the way, I did find a Northeast Company and they do deal in parts, but not the switch, at least as far as I could find........LOL

I think it is a Clum switch; the handle looks like mine.
Yes, I'm sure it is. We just finished rebuilding it today and it seems to be working OK. Thanks for all the input and help!

quote...........Can you send me the Web page for North East Parts, I would love to see their price book. In the mean time I'll see if I can find them..............While you at it please send that info to me as well, I need to order me a new coil
Sorry Juan, I just could not resist
No problem, I just got done working on the wagon and we were able to get the original re-built and it seems to be working fine. Would still like to have that web page, though.

And no there is no other plaque or rivet holes.
-
Yes, you are right, mine did come off the assembly line in late 1927, but was registered as a 1928. Don't know why, but the registration slip I had showed it to be registered as a 1928. I do have the plaque, it was mounted on the floorboards on the right side and that is where we placed it during the restoration. Here is a picture of it. Kinda fuzzy, but readable.

Sounds like you have a good source. I am pretty sure that mine is the 6v part #18456 as mine does not show a PARK position and yes I do have the old key, but to tell you the truth I have never looked at it close enough to see if there is anything printed on it. It is a small, funny looking key, so I guess I'll check it.

You are right about the 1/4 ton. I meant 1/2 ton, but even at that I am not sure. Like I said, I am no expert and am just going by my memory. As for a Serial number, are we talking like the VIN, engine or frame #. Wheel base, I believe is 108, but I would have to measure to be sure and it will have to wait until I get a chance to do it this weekend.

I got it, just hope the people that have questioned whether our truck is a DB or GB read this.
As far as I'm concerned and what the research says, it is a 28 Dodge Brothers Four Screen Express!
Thank you all!
