  1. Hi Pete, I have always wanted to see what a 48 would look like painted the way yours is, except with a black roof. Just for giggles, before you put a final paint job on yours, try painting your roof with a black primer and leaving the rest as it is with the grey and black. I think it would really make the sweep fenders stand out and make the car look similar to a Rolls Royce. If you do, post a picture please.
  2. don't know why some of these won't load. I'll try one at a time.
  3. Here are a few more interior pic. Sorry it took so long but I'm working overtime this week.
  4. Thanks Barney. I visited your web site today - it sure has a plethora of info there! When the dust settles, I will be joining the Reatta division and your website. I'm one of "those" guys who likes to do a lot of research on my cars, and collect the related literature. So I will be looking for a 1989 shop manual.
  5. Hi Redlight, I'm having wireless router problems tonight so I can't post pictures as they are on my laptop and I'm using the desktop computer right now. Will post some tomorrow. And yes it was the original owner. See my story on purchasing the car that I posted in my other thread.
  6. Thanks everyone for the kind words. I didn't really need another car, but this is a once in a life time find. The guy selling just got tired after 19 years of taking care of it. He was the original owner, and is the same age as me. He took meticulous care of the car but never drove it to car shows. He was a typical Western PA mill worker who had his every day pickup truck and this car for nice sunny days. Me getting this car seems like it was fate. Here is the story. I started to see it in the paper back in early May. by Late May, I posted the listing here on the Reatta board hoping someone from the BCA would buy it so I wouldn't have it haunting me in the newspaper. No such luck. By July the ad no longer appeared in the paper so I thought I was safe. No such luck. By Early August the same ad showed up again in the local paper, again in the standard used car section, not the classic/antique section. I had this major internal wresting match going on. "Yes I should call and go see the car - no you're crazy don't call. Back and forth I went all summer. My wife was supportive as she really likes the Reatta and wanted one too. By Sunday August 31, I couldn't stand it any longer and had to call. Here is where it really gets weird with fate or serendipity. When I called for directions to go visit the car, I found out the location was directly across the street from my sisters old house she moved away from 14 years ago. So the families were very familiar with each other. Then, the 83 year old mother of the 53 year old single guy who owns the car indicated she is originally from the same town where I currently live - about 30 miles away. As it turns out, she dated my sister-in-law's father back in high school. So it was really a pleasant "small world" experience.
  7. Today I bought a "NEW" 1989 Reatta with just 6,865 miles on it, a once in a lifetime find. Couldn't pass it up. Go to the Reatta posts to see the pictures I posted. I'm still in the state of disbelief.
  8. I watched this car posted in my local newspaper since early May. I couldn't hold back any longer and made the phone call. I am not sorry I called. The car has received TLC for the past 19 years by the original owner. I am now the 2nd proud owner. See attached pictures. The car has the original tires, 6,865 miles, sunroof, everything power, not even any scuffs on the leather seats.
  9. Well guys, I couldn't contain myself any longer. I called to visit this car, and went to see it today. I bought it! The odometer shows 6,865 original miles!!! This car is pristeen. I didn't "need" this car but could not pass it up. I can't figure how to post a pic here in the reply, so I'll post a new message with a couple pictures.
  10. Thanks for the response. I think Nancy and I will still come up. Now just need to decide if I still want to drive my 68 and park it in public lot, or our CTS. The 68 is running nicely with the new exhaust manifold but I just don't know about parking the 68 in public lot???
  11. Hi Roberta, Will non pre-registered cars be turned away from the national meet? I was just able to break loose from the office and can now make the trip, but don't want to make the drive to Flint if I can't join in the car show. Will drive-ups be accepted? I would think maybe with limited benefits like no shirt or goody bag? Thanks in advance for the info.
  12. Here is a lead on an 89 Reatta I have been watching in my local paper. The car is just listed in the standard car section, not the classic car section. I would love to go after this car but don't have the money, space or time for the car. So here is what the ad says: BUICK REATTA - 1989, 6,900 miles, automatic v-6, 2-door coupe, white with red leather interior, power windows, locks, sunroof, excelent condition, $9,500 or best offer. 724-758-6166. This ad has been in the paper for about 10 days. And I did not mistype the milage, the ad says 6,900 miles.
  13. I've bumped my head many times on my 68. Unless you are looking for 400 points, I'd go with the 69 hinges.
