  1. We will be traveling from Arizona to North Carolina, in October, and will be on I 40 all the way there.  Does anyone know of any good wrecking yards along I 40 that we could check out?  Looking for yards with MOPARs from 1929 up in them.  Thanks for any help.

  2. I have a 1936 Dodge RS cp that had a later engine in it and when I started looking for the right engine (D-2), I was VERY happy that someone had saved old flatheads because it gave me the chance to make my car right.  I - myself - would save them if you have the room to store them and try to find people that are needing them to keep their restorations right.  Then again, I am a real stickler when it comes to the right parts for a car. Good luck.

  3. There were some aftermarket caps made for the 1936 Dodge too, I used to have a couple that came with a car I bought. They still show up on E-Bay, sometimes listed as NOS, and I am sure many people have bought them without really looking close at them.

  4. Keiser, NAPA (here in my small town) will do all they can to help us old car buys but my belt is so far gone that I don't think it would make a good sample to measure.

Spinney, You listing is of great help and with the right size and numbers, can now look for the right belt without just guessing. Thanks to both of you for your replies and help. I am going to try to get the car out of it's storage space in the next few weeks and as soon as I do, I will post a picture or two. It is in need of a total restoration and I do have some plans for it but it will not be a fast or easy journey. I do want to get it running and see what I have to work with, then take it from there. I might have a little fun driving it around in the local area before I start with my plans. Thanks again.

  5. It is great to see another old Dodge being brought back to life. I have a D-2 as well and have owned it for a long time with very little progress lol. There are a LOT of people on this forum that are willing to help where they can so don't be shy about asking. Good luck and please keep us posted.

  6. Dwight,

Here are a couple pictures of the 1935 CZ shift knob. As you can see, the horn button and the shift knob have the same pattern for the inset. I would like to be able to get them both restored to new condition if possible. Pictures are from the internet, not mine.Thank you for your interest.

    Bob:

The gearshift handle restoration is probably the exact kind of work I do, depending on the quality you want. If it has intricate details on it, you probably don't just want a plating company doing it, they can do irreparable damage and hand it back to you freshly chromed! Could you put up a picture of it?

  7. Great info from all, thank you. Keiser31, that sounds like about the best approach - depending on the cost. What I have are two NOS reflectors that have a slight dullness to them and a few small smudge marks (look like fingerprint marks). I might be better off to just clean them up a bit with a damp, soft cloth and dry them before installing them.

  8. What is the best way to clean headlight reflectors that will take out any light dirt and finger prints? I have a set of NOS reflectors that I would like to make perfectly clean before installing them. Thanks.
