The Reatta is giving me 13.8 MPG in the city and 19 on the highway. This can't be normal. Its got new plugs, wires, PCV valve, air filter, etc. What do I need to do to this engine to get better mileage? New O2 sensor? Fule filter? Any ideas? -Q

All you have to do is lock the door like normal when the door is open. When the door is open, the Security light will flash and it will stop flashing and remain illuminated momentary when the system is armed. These instructions are also outlined in the beginning of your owners manual if your car came with it. Hope this helps.Opening the door via the key will disarm it. Also, if the alarm is tripped for whatever reason, the lights will flash and the horn will sound. Th starter is also disabled. If this happens,use the key to unlock the car and the system will be disarmed.

No info on cassette players, but thank you very much for your help. Doees anyone have a tape player they want to sell or give away?

My cassette player is not functioning correctly. When I put a tape in it, it switches sides repeatedly until the tape auto-ejects. I rebuilt it and put a new belt in it, but it did not help exect I could now fast forward and rewind. But it is still doing the same problem I outlined above and the tapes are still not playing. What could cause this problem and what is the fix?

Got a E063 code this afternoon. Looked in the search string for the cure and cannot find it. Can someone help?

Had the same problem this afternoon. Driving down the road and the Service Engine Soon light comes on. Code was the same. I reset the ECM and cleared the code, but what is the permanent fix for the EGR Flow Check code/error?

I'll tell you, whoever said the time spent with a Reatta is a love-hate relationship is right. In addition to all the other things it needs and the things I have fixed, I am now having a little trouble with the right headlight. First off, it looks like someone tried to fix a short a bad headlight plug on it because the connectors were covered in electrical tape. I don't know if the power supply to the headlights comes from the right, but I find that when I turn on the lights, the right headligth seems to go up slower than the left and vice-versa.Most of the time, they go up and down just fine. I ordered a headlight plug/connector from Jim Finn and it should arrive soon. Do you think this will solve my headlight drama, or what else do I need to check? Last question: My Headlamp Retract button does not work. Are there any reasons why, or is it just in need of a new button itself? Please help.

Went out to the garage and saw a small puddle of transmission fluid on the floor. Took it to get checked out and saw a trickle where the axle meets the transmission. I was told the seal between the axle and transmission could be wearing out. Is this a common problem? If so, what are the long term effects? And how much does it cost to fix?

My car was riding like a lumber wagon so I took it Midas for the free inspection. The results was that I needed rear struts and lower ball joints up front.The bill $900 after labor and tax. Of course I don't have that kind of money, well at least not for that and I was wondering... 1.Could I replace the struts myself? Looks like one big bolt on the bottom and one on the top needs to be removed and the strut taken out and replaced in reverse order. I could be missing something here though and need some assistance. 2. What is the best way to replace the lower ball joints? They are original equipment and are riveted in. How do I remove the old ball joints without damaging the control arm? Please help.

The idle speed is about 800-850 in park and 725-750 in Drive.

My Reatta had a engine replaced recently and it runs great and is very smooth at speed. My problem, or perception of a problem, is that I get a little bit of vibration at idle in Park and in Drive at stoplights. Its been awhile since I had a car with a 3800 engine, but I remember them being a little smooter than that. This same vibration persisted with the original motor as well. What can I do to eliminate those vibrations?

I used #890 for my foglights and my turn signals and they worked out fine. I found some at Wal-Mart on clearance for .25!

I bought a Claret Red Reatta (1988 #4029)in February and its been in the shop ever since (until today). I noticed some scuffs on the car that appear to be made by an ice scraper. It appears that the scuffs are in the clearcoat, except on the door where it may have actually scratched the paint. What can I use to get these scuff out without having to get the car repainted? Beised these few scuff,s the paint is in good shape outside of a little "orange peel" on the hood. Please help Q

I read the post from the guy who successfully added the compass. Seems pretty hard to do correctly. Wish someone had pictorial of how to do it.

Okay, then I can go to the junkyard and find a Riviera with that module pretty easily then. I thought every feature was built in and had to be activated, so I appreciate your help there. When I get the module, where do I hook it up in the Reatta. You say not to hook it up to a 12v source, so I wonder where you placed yours. Also, does the phone have a module I'll have to get out of a Riviera as well? If so, where is that located and where do I hook it up in my car. Sorry for the questions, I'm on a knowledge quest

How do you get the compass module?

I am amazed about how this car can be programmed! Does anyone have a picture of what the compass and telephone features look like? With the Twilight Sentinel, I know there is an icon on the IP to glows when activated if the car has that feature, but doesn't the TS normally have a switch somewhere on the dash to control it (min-max)? If I add the Twilight, how will be activated, from the CRT? Something related, has anyone had trouble with their Lamp Retract button (on the console)?

How do you add the load leveling suspension? I don't remember seeing that.

I was looking at the Diagnostic Manual and it looks like the Rivieras could be prgrammed for a telephone, Twilight Sentinel and the compass. Can I add the same options to my 88 Reatta (which did not come with those options)?
