  1. I bought one of this paperback book when they were new, I still have it today, it was a fun book to look at and read when I was a new old car owner, I bought my 1953 Pontiac chieftain custom catalina from it's original owners in 1973, I was 17 years old then, still have the same car today, almost 42 years. Charles l. coker 1953 Pontiac tech advisor tech advisor coordinator poci

  2. very interesting picture and paragraph about the 1953 automotive air conditioning, but the writer needed to do their homework a little better, having the evaporator/blower assembly in the trunk was the industry standard, and it wasn't unusual at all for the ducts and outlets to be in the headliner, that's the it was designed for cadillacs, buicks, and oldsmobiles. cadillac kept this design untill they went to up front a/c in 1957, buick went to up front a/c in 1956, oldsmobile in 1955, it was pontiac in 1954, that was first in the entire automotive industry, that came with the new up front, in dash, factory air conditioning, following the 1954 pontiac lead six months later, was the 1954 nash models.

  3. the 1954 pontiac bonneville special show car, number 1 of two cars built, the cars were built on stock pontiac chassis shorten to have a 100 inch wheelbase, a full two feet shorter than the new 1954 pontiac starchief models. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.

  4. this 1954 pontiac bonneville special version of pontiac's 268 straight eight engine, has four carter YH sidedraft carburetors, a high performance camshaft made for pontiac by iskenderian cams. horsepower is reported to be about 230hp, nearly double the stock 1954 pontiac 127hp. the chrome plated cast iron cylinder head is reported to have been milled to raise the compression ratio at or above 8 to 1. a hand choke control cable is used on the engine also. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
