OK, I found the car from Ebay...
It has a small rust hole in trunk and small welded patch on drivers floor. The car is complete, except those small grilles on the sides of bigger one are missing, so is one taillight. Interior is VERY rough. I guess no one knows when it has been driven last. The fellow who sold this has owned it for 25-30 years, but he never drove it. He just picked it up somewhere to save it from the crusher.
Does anyone here know anything about those 30's Hudsons??
Thanks a lot,
Mika

We are three guys who has rented this place:
Here's our garage in Finland:
Heated place for 1 car + not heated place for 1 car makes about 85 USD/month.
You can see not heated area here in the pic and heated area in the background(door open, place for 4 cars).

Hhhmm....
Is it okay if you live in Finland??
I'm 24-years old and my cars will never be hotrods!!!

Hi Guys!
I just bought this 1939 Hudson from Nebraska. I haven't any info about these cars (Hudsons), but it JUST LOOKED SO GREAT!
What do you guys think?
I should have it here in Finland next summer!!!

Yes, I have used this kind of pullers in my cars (rear brake drum) and other MOPARS. I don't know if the one in the pic "is too heavy-duty" for Imperial, but I don't think so.

How many model "T" Fords gave their life for the Hal Roach studios ?

Those poor Model T's! But unfortunately, I laughed myself almost to death when I saw that "Big Business" where J. Finla(nd)yson parted out that T! How about that episode where Stan & Ollie were working in a sawmill. The had this model T which had a record player under the hood
.
Then they accidentially drove the Model T to BIG sawtooth and cut the poor car half..
Then was this one episode where Stan was at the I WW, even the war had been over for many years. That poor '36 Ford roadster that they drove through the garage door
Maybe the people at Hal Roach didn't like Fords
Hey! Why no one hasn't suggested Stephen King's Christine?!?!?!!!

Hey guys,
You don't have to be old to think that way. I think just the way you do. But I wouldn't make a street rod out of FORD either like you guys!

Hey, thanks!
You made my day! This is good to know!
But how about Plymouth?
Thanks!
-
Thanks guys,
ex98thdrill, I checked the wb's on '40 Dodge & plymouth and Dodge has 119 1/2" and plymouth has 117". So if the boards are the same in '40 they might also be in '39 models? Got any idea if the parts numbers are different(or the same) in 1940. Of course, I have taken some measurements to compare them with '39 Plymouth rbs before i buy them.

Hi!
I have a problem- I'm looking for a '39 Dodge Running boards and couple of guys have offered me '39 Plymouths running boards. Are they same or do they just look the same? It would be good to know before I make a purchase. Part numbers are different, but does it prove anything? Plymouth is 3" shorter than Dodge. . But, again, does it prove anything?
Thanks Guys!

Come on guys!
In Finland the winter is really beginning late this year. Today 21 F and In january 1F-(-18F). . Garage is not heated this winter, so I'd rather stay with my computer and continue fixing my cars later next spring
Just a hint: MOVE HERE! I WILL GLADLY COME THERE (on the beach, under the sun )

... atleast, I can't tell that he would be ugly . .
Seriously, I've ordered this guy once. A starter reapit kit for my '39 Dodge. I WAS VERY PLEASED. I sent the money via mail and since the posting of the money it took only 1,5 weeks to get the parts here in Finland! The parts were 1:1 JUST LIKE THE ORIGINALS. I WILL USE HIM AGAIN, but now my '39 project is waiting for '57 Imperials 392 engine to be ready.
Only , not a bad, but . . . not so good thing is that this guy don't have email address. When I sent the fax and waited him to reply, it took few days and I already gave up hope, suddenly THERE WAS AN ENVELOPE in my mailbox and a letter from Andy. . . (yes, I sent a fax number also)! That somehow informed me that this guy is something that most of the todays webstore seller aren't. WOW!
Finnish guy tells the americans (?) where to find parts for their cars!

Chrysler Corp made few cars that were ONLY EXPORT models such as
DeSoto Diplomat,
http://www.accf.com/images/Av1.jpg
Dodge Kingsway.
http://www.dyna.co.za/cars/Dodge_58_Kingsway_Red_bs1.jpg
Diplomat had plymouth body & dashboard with DeSotos grille/front fenders
Kingsway had plymouth body & dashboard with Dodges grille/front fenders
I have no idea why they made these, but nowadays here in Finland there are
Chrysler Neons and Chrysler Voyagers which are Dodges in US.
Maybe Chrysler chiefs in US believe that outlanders cannot afford REAL Chryslers and sell Dodges as Chryslers because people would love to one a Chrysler.. Don't know. I believe that Diplomats and Kingsways were assembled in Canada.
Here in Finland are several Diplomats and Kingsways left. Actually, My brother had a 1956 DeSoto Diplomat 4d sedan couple of years ago. They thougt there was only couple of them left in Scandinavia...

Hi!
I've seen some vintage NORS (?) parts made by P & D Manufacturing co. I bought once in a swap meet some horn relays made by P&D, but have no idea where they might fit. Box says: GENUINE P & D PARTS, GENUINE P & D IGNITION PARTS
P&D MFG. CO. INC. LONG ISLAND CITY N.Y. Part number: HR-1
Does anybody know where might be info about companys part numbers etc.
How about any knowledge of the company?

OK, thanks Tony.
Which one is the "right" way. Paint the inner fender bolts or leave them cad plated? I mean when it comes to judging a show car?

Hi!
Check Andy Bernbaum. He sells lots of NOS parts so I believe the shocks he has, might also be NOS..
http://www.oldmoparts.com/r.htm
Then in Ebay is front shocks. Not NOS, but anyway.. Says only IMPERIAL 1949-1950, but I think they might also fit '53. But check the part numbers first.

Thanks Tony. This was the information I was looking for. Got any ideas how the exhaust manifolds were coated? What kind of paint did they use ?
I'm wondering about the sheet metal attaching bolts.. like inner fenders/fenders in engine compartment. You said those were cadmium coated. That's how the usually re-coat them in show cars. But in both of my Imperials ('57&'64) these bolts have ORIGINAL color on them. Same paint used to paint the whole car.
T H A N K S A LOT!

Need HELP!
I'm rebuilding a '57 Chrysler IMPERIAL 392 hemi engine. It should be just like when it left the factory in '57. All the original bolts that I'm going to use are rusty/oily/just dirty. What kind of / colored coating did the factory use?
OK, some bolts, like manifold bolts are obviously painted (silver)like the engine, but how about all the generator / ps pump / oil pan / fan / carburetor etc etc . . And what colors are the road draft tube / generator (BLACK?) / ps pump / pulleys etc .
THANKS FOLKS! Hope somebody can this check from his/hers 5000 miles driven '57 Imperial ! Thanks!. .
what is you favorite car movie?

If anyone out there is up and has cable, check out Turner Classic Movies right now, they're playing an old Charlie Chaplin movie from 1931 "City Lights" So far there have been a lot of scenes with him driving an early to mid 1920's Rolls Royce Picadilly roadster. He's been really beating it up too, driving over curbs, ect.

I'm not quite sure if we are talking about the same car, but in Finland there's a Chaplins previously owned Rolls Royce. I saw it once. It's a blue convertible. I have no clue about the year or model. It looked GREAT!
