  1. Thanks alot Rusty and guys. I might go for do-it-yourself-kit. Not because I want to be annoying, just because I think it's the right way smile.gif

And there's lot's of other stuff like bolts and nuts that will need replating. I dont want to install those rusty and dirty bolts back to car when it's repainted.

By the way, I think that glass bead blasting may be difficult to do on small parts like dash bulb sockets- is there anykind of chemical solution for taking rust out from small parts? like citric acid or something like that?

  3. I guess I could have posted this to Dodge forum, but I think this a general question after all...

I have an old '38 Dodge Truck wiring harness with headlight bulb, park bulb, dash bulb sockets:

    http://homepage.mac.com/mika.jaakkola/dodgewires/PhotoAlbum9.html

I guess (this is a guess) these sockets are zinc plated when new.

I recently bought a complete new wiring harness without sockets and I should install the old sockets to the new wiring harness.

But.. I don't want to install those lightly rusted and worn out-looking parts.

Does anyone know a company who does zinc plating(based on electrolysis) for this kind (only for few)of old parts?

    Hey Come on!

If there weren't such guys who do this for living, there wouldn't be a hobby.

Or there might, but it would be quite hard to manage it.

There might not be AACA as big it is.

    Think about guys like

    Andy Bernbaum or

    guys at

    http://wildcatmopars.com/

    or guys at N/C Industries:

    http://www.windshieldframes.com/

    or

    Gary Goers at http://www.tomandgaryinc.com/garygoers/index.htm

You have to get your stuff and services somewhere? Right?

And then there's automotive researchers etc. in a whole different category.

I'm sensing that anyone who tries to get living or money out of it is pure evil?

I think more him as one lucky guy who can combine the passion for automobiles and daily work.

  5. Do you ? If you do, what do you do?

I've always thought that antique cars have been more than hobby for me and

I would really get involved more and make a living with these.

This isn't my main job but I have been every once in a while trying to locate parts for other peoples cars and get them what they need.

Being an engineer in internet technology I know how to use the internet grin.gif And that's been great help.

  6. I found some pictures from a finnish book called Fiude (means car in spoken 30's finnish language) I think I must share!!

These are from then finnish Dodge dealer.

There seems to be several '38 Dodge passenger cars, BUT LOOK AT THE BOTTOM OF THOSE 2 PICTURES and tell me what you see!!! confused.gif

    fiudedodge_nuolet.jpg

I'd bet the other one is my car!!
