  1. I removed two old underdash gauges that lit up when the ignition was turned on and were not routed through the dimmer circuit. They were grounded to the metal dash. This told me that the hot wire that powered the old gauges could be used to power the new lights in the oil pressure, Voltmeter, temperature and tachometer gauges. I ran a seperate ground wire from the battery negative terminal. The voltmeter and tachometer also needed the hot wire to function as gauges, however, when I attached all the hot leads together and all negative leads together, it blew the fuse. When the fuse blows, the tach and voltmeter as well as the lights for all the gauges goes out. Could the voltmeter be drawing a disproportunate amount of amps? If I don't attach the voltmeter, every thing else works. Do I have the voltmeter routed correcly or should I find another hot lead? I have the Tach operating and light leads attached together as I'm not going through the dimmer circuit. Where's the gremlin? Short circuit somewhere?

  2. I have a 69 442 400 with the close ratio M21 4-speed with a 3:91, and it's undrivable on the expressway due to the high rpm. The transmission gearing and rear axle ratio both have a good or bad effect on acceleration /top speed, depending on what you intend to do. If you're a street racer, there isn't much that will catch you with my set-up. If you want to drive at a lower RPM on the expressway, choose a wide ratio 4 speed or lower the axle ratio. The 5/6 speed isn't needed unless your at Road Atlanta or Watkins Glen.

  3. Need assembly details for re assembling horn components on 1968 442 with sport wheel. I seem to have all the components, but the horn won't sound unless I circumvent the assembly.I have the hub, the plunger pin , the spring, the round donut frame with the plunger tab, the center steering wheel button, but no electrical circuit. What component path completes the circuit? Thanks

  4. Recently purchased 1969 442 original steering wheel was replaced with a 70 or 71 sport wheel. The wheel needs to be repositioned to correct horizontal position, and occasionally the horn beeps when I put on the right turn signal. How is the wheel removed? Thanks
