Hey how about that, it worked this time. If this 46 or 47 woody shows up I was told that it was restored before he purchased it and parked it under the trees years ago. Is there someway to load a lot of pictures for the forum to view. Hupp 2

I went both days. I stayed on Saturday untill about 5:30 PM. they still had half of the parts to go. I was told on Sunday morning that they sold untill midnight when the speedway turned out the lights. Most of the cars were more than rough. One car was torn in to two pieces trying to move it to the sale location, and several others were not far fron the same. I have digital pictures of most of the cars if someone would tell me how to put the pictures on the form I may try this weekend. I have tried to load pictures to the site several times before and they never show up. Hupp 2

I have just purchased a pickup truck load of 1933 Studebaker 4 door parts from a salvage yard. Apparently the car was made into a Hot Rod. The yard was going to scrap the parts in the spring. Some of the parts were under a pile of tires and snow. I picked up 6 cyl engine, transmission w/OD?, drive shaft, front and rear axles, wire wheels, steering, door handles, lights, 1 door, 1 front & 1 rear fender, trim, etc. From the looks of some of the parts the car must have been restored at one time. The fenders and door look like good used parts, maybe they were unneeded extra parts. One of the items was a "Startix". Does this belong with the Studebaker parts? It looks somewhat similar to an early Ford electronic ignition module. I have never seen such a thing. Could someone explain to me what it is for or how it works? I assume it has something to do with the starting. There is also some sort of Vacuum canister I think attaches below the ex manifold. It may have a linkage to the transmission or clutch? What would this be? Is there a way of identifying these parts from casting numbers, pictures or other? A picture of the front fender is attached. Thanks in advance

My Mother-In-Law would like to know what the car in the attachment is. It belonged to her Uncle Bill when she was a child. The Ohio license plates are dated 1926, so I am sure it is a 26 or older. She remembers that her uncle was proud of his car, and it was a treat to go for a ride in it. I tried to post this before but the picture attachment does not appear. Does anyone have any ideas as to why the attachment comes up "page not found"? Any help would be appreciated.

For Sale for best offer, 1936 Canadian Chevrolet 6 cylinder engine and transmission, Per the guys at the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America web site. It appears to be complete and will turn over by hand. The starter is bad and will only spin slowly when off the engine. It has been in a Hupmobile and not run for the last 30 years or more. The car had been stored in a barn for this time. The plugs and points look new and the oil and rocker arms look clean. This is all I know about the engine. The numbers on the engine are as follows: Cast in block right side - A 76 1782594 Stamped on machined surface between fuel pump and distributor - T5571126 Cast in exhaust manifold - 837309 Starter marked - Allison # 73BG Generator marked - Delco remy # 9360 26514 or 936J 26514 and Made in Canada Carburetor marked - Tillotson YR2 Made in Toledo Transmission marked - CR3118 on a surface on top rear of trans. I hope that someone can use it for a restoration or for a spare engine. I hate to see these things go to waste. This may be a heavy truck engine 1 Ton up to a Maple Leaf 2 1/2 ton. Make me an offer. Thanks for all the help guys. The people at the Vintage Chevrolet Club web site were a lot of help. According to the Chevy people it is a 1936 Chevrolet 207 CID Canadian engine, going by the serial number stamped on the block. Now if I can only find someone that can use it. Thanks Again

I actually have two 1931 Hupmobiles. Both will need to be restored before they are driven. My first Hupp has been setting for almost 20 years, and the second for close to 30 years. I will be sure to check the axle shafts while they are apart. Thanks for the info.

I bought a 1931 Hupmobile a few weeks ago with a GM engine and transmission in it. I think it is a Chevrolet 6Cyl from the late 30's or 40's. Could anyone help to identify it? I have removed the engine from the Hupmobile to put in an original Hupp engine. I thought that someone would be looking for a spare engine, or to replace a bad engine, or whatever. I hate to scrap something that may have some value to a restorer. The block has GM A 76 1782594 cast in the right side and # T5571126 stamped on a machined surface between the fuel pump and distributor also on the right side of the block. The exhaust manifold has # 837309 cast on it. The starter is made by Allison with a number of 73BG. The generator is a Delco Remy # 9360 26514 or 936J 26514, Made In Canada. The carburetor is marked Tillotson YR2 Made in Toledo. The transmission is marked CR3118 on a machined surface on the top rear of the trans. The brake and clutch pedals are still attached. The engine turns over by hand but the starter must be bad. I had the starter off and it turned over very slow with no load. It has clean oil, the rockers look clean, and the plugs and points look fairly new. The car has been setting under shelter for over 25 years and has not been run in that long or more Thanks

The December issue of Street Rodder is devoted to street rodding large antique cars classified as Super-Sized Rods or Monster Rod. They show a 35, 36, 38 & 39 Packard, 41 Lincoln Continental, 32 Nash, 34 Pontiac, 35 Studabaker,34 Buick, 46 Cadillac (2), 41 Segrave fire truck, and even a 1948 Crosley Station Wagon all rodded and modified. If you rod a rare car you are messing with history. They can never be returned to original again. I really hate to see a bowtie engine in anything but a modern Chevy. If you must rod a car at least rod a common car and try not to do anything that can't be returned to stock.

The spelling is Hupmobile. Yes the car is a rare car but not as rare as you believe. The Hupmobile Club Roster for 2003 shows 11 of these cars owned by club members, 7 with rumble seats and 4 with out. Your description of the car sounds like it would be a great car to have. You should join the Hupmobile Club. The Club members are more than willing to share information and help with Hupmobile related vehicles. A friend at work has a set of headlights and a headlight bar that look to be from the late 20's or early 30's. He needs one lens to replace one that is missing. He is not sure of the original application to know where to start looking for a replacement. The lens is marked Stabilite Head Lamp Fixed Focus, Made by the John W. Brown Mfg Co in Columbus Ohio, A-25 8 11/16 x 9 7/16 444. Is there a place to look up the original application of the lights from the numbers on the lens? I PURCHASED A SET OF HEADLIGHTS AT A LOCAL AUCTION. TO THE BEST I COULD FIND THEY FIT A 1933 6 & 8 CYL,AND 1934 6CYL CHRYSLER. THE RIGHT SIDE LENS IS BROKEN AND I AM LOOKING FOR A REPLACEMENT.IT IS MARKED "FLEXBEAM HEADLAMP & RIGHT" ON THE LENS,AND PART-13902 & 13903. DOES ANYONE HAVE ONE FOR SALE? THANK YOU

I purchased some headlights at an auction recently. I am not sure what they originally fit. One of the lenses is broken. I would like to know what they fit so I can look for a replacement lense. Any help would be appreciated. They are marked FLEX BEAM HEADLAMP on the top, and C.M. HALL LAMP CO. DETROIT MI. U.S.A. on the bottom. At the top/front they are decorated with what appears to be pine cones with wings, with about a half-inch ridge separating them. The lenses are marked, right and left; and the right one is broken. I have additiomal pictures I could e-mail, if you could help identify them. Thanks
