I have one of those Speed Blasters, great for small spot blasting too. I also have a blaster with a vacuum brush head that recirculates the media. Love that mo-chine!

I have yet to see any tire shop offer blast/paint services.
Keep an eye on your pressure, as it drops so will the effectiveness of the blast. I don't think your machine can keep up with constant blasting. Get a fan on the motor and compressor to help keep it as cool as possible. Take your time, do some once your pressure drops go have lunch while it builds and cools some. You may only get a few mins at a time. Wheels can be a pain depending on the paint and the media you are using.

If you use a small nozzle and take your time, you may OK for a while. Be sure that you allow your compressor to cool (add a fan maybe). Blasters use a LOT of volume so be aware of the run time. The spec you need is the CFM or volume of air it can supply constantly not so much it's capacity. You will find it can deliver for a short time, but will soon be running constantly trying to keep up as your pressure drops.

I always have some cash in hand just in case. You never know. I spent 10 years trying to buy a '59 Skyliner (some here may remember this story). The day came when he decided it was time to sell and I was chosen from the many. When he gave me a number on the phone, I was there in 30 mins with cash in hand and he had title in hand. Done deal, no time to change his mind or have another offer stupid money and buy it out from under me. (that has happened, never again)

If it froze, you didn't do your due diligence to insure it had proper coolant for the environment. Certainly not something an insurance policy would or should cover. Same as if you forgot to add oil after changing it and it blew up, absolutely foreseeable and preventable. Not an accident.

"Ted's" place still exists... sort of. That building was torn down in 1089 By Conoco. We (those who live in and around Ft. Colins, CO) all still call it "Ted's place" just like "Mile High" stadium is "MIle High" and not "Invesco field"

My policy is simple, if you make an offer to buy, put a reasonable NON-REFUNDABLE deposit in my hand. If you aren't willing to do that, then you are not serious. (A refundable deposit doesn't do anything but waste time.) I'll hold it until a time we agree on. After that your out and the next guy is in.
If you are serious about buying my car, then come prepared! Basically, First one to place cash in my hand wins.
I had one guy this summer drove 2 hrs, came and beat up my car (72 Eldo ragtop) for 3 hours, haggled for another hour until we made a deal. Then I said OK, lets see the cash. He told me he didn't bring any! I have to say that all my kindness was gone. I let him know in no uncertain terms that I did not appreciate him wasting 4 hours of my time and then not being prepared to complete the deal. I STRONGLY suggested that he left without hesitation and that the next time he wants to make a deal, he should be a better boy scout and come prepared. He called me that night and said he could come by with the money, I said "SOLD IT!" and hung up.
About 10pm that very night I got a call from a guy in Texas saying he was on his way to buy the car. I said if you are here 1st you get it and laughed to myself and went to bed. The next AM sure enough at 8am he called again and said he was 3 hrs away to hold it. I told him again, 1st with cash wins. By 11AM he was there rental trailer in tow, happy as could be with $5k in hand (all $5s $10s and $20s!). Didn't haggle, didn't waver.. wanted it and bought it.

It's not the miles, it's the months that matter. Time has it's way with everything no matter how good they look, you can not see how deteriorated they are. Do yourself (and those around you) be safe, keep it as a spare, but don't put it into service. You may be that guy with a flat during one of our blizzards.

Maybe I could get you to share the costs and we could tow a fuel barge across the Atlantic and get to Europe in a much quicker time frame than his nice little Amphicar could get there. AND it would have to be in a calm, storm free time that the Atlantic would offer. I motor from Oceanside or Dana Point harbors to Santa Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California. It is 55 miles from Oceanside Harbor. I get there in a little over an hour. I have to leave at 6 AM when the ocean is "flat". Nice little jaunt. Crossing the Atlantic would be some adventure ! Suffice it to say, Swiss Air would be the modus for traveling to Switzerland.
Well, I guess I should start packing a change of clothing and a lunch! Seems like a great idea to me! If my time and finances would allow, I would have no second thoughts about going to visit Roger. That trip would be worth every penny to see such a world class artist. I fear that Randy and I would have to take Roger out for dinner as I suspect his dinner plates and silverware may be 1:12 scale and I have a 1:1 scale mouth! ;-)

I could take my Amphicar, fill the fuel tank, pack a lunch (or 2) and head on over! I assure you that watching a master of his craft as you are, would not be boring for me at all! I'd love to video you working using time lapse to see all the effort you expend. Not boring for me.

That has been my experience as well. I too do not judge based on the mistake made, but the reaction to the mistake made. We are human and mistakes happen, it how that is remedied that matters.

You said " would barely find a buyer of the model when ready", I am certain there would be people lined up for your car. I can see it now going across the stage at a large auto action watching the bids fly by. I'd be 1st in line (depending on how big the number would have to be on the check!) I could not even begin to guess what one would be worth, but it would not surprise me if it was more than the actual car. (as it should be).
I have an affinity for anything that is done to a high standard. Your work is exactly that. It is without a doubt some of the world's greatest art pieces to be revered and admired. Make no mistake, there are no appropriate words for what you do. I would love to just hold it in my hands to experience all that it is. Not may things would leave me speechless, any one of your models would do that. That last thing I held in my hands that did that was WIllie Nelson's guitar (handed to me by WIllie himself, which is another story itself). That is a cultural icon for any Willie Nelson fan with life and a it's own history.
So keep on, keeping on! Let me know when I should start sending the pictures and measurements for you to build an Amphicar for me! (A guy has gotta dream!)

That dent will NOT just pop out. It is clearly creased at the bottom so there will be that stretched metal and cracked paint (once you push it out) to deal with. You can probably push most of it out, but to be done properly but It is going to require some bodywork and paint to be right

Yes, here the YOM plate is displayed but the modern plate is not (but must be in the car) and that is the one it's officially registered to. I do not know what the police see if the type in the YOM plate and it shows the modern plate or not (or how the toll and red light cameras). I just don't know why there is a modern plate at all.
I know that a temp tag doesn't get read for the toll roads so it becomes a free pass! Love that part.

That is true, you would think that the police would be well aware of the laws which would eliminate the problem the OP experienced, but that's just me! ;-)
Here in Colorado it's the same. The YOM plate is displayed on the car (must have front and rear) but they give you another plate that must be in the car that matches on the registration. What the ...? Why do they not just use the number from the YOM pate and not have a 2nd secret plate? This is no different that a vanity plate. Seems the police would be all over all the things wrong with this scenario.

The talk about specific laws is related to the conversation as this is a natural progression of conversation and very relevant. You don't know who may be reading this and it could lead to positive changes in the laws. Information is power. Maybe the lawmakers don't realize how these laws are just dumb. I think the plate you have displayed should be the plate that it's registered to. I can't believe any cop would disagree. They should expect that the 1966 plate on the 66 car is the pate they will see in the records. Not a plate under the seat they can't see to associate with the car and/or owner.
Running you plate even though you aren't doing anything wrong is key to finding stolen cars, plates, criminals and such. I'm legal so I don't care if they run my plate. This is one reason that my 66 Cadillac that was stolen was found after almost a year. Had the officer not ran that plate, I may never have seen my car again. There are a significant number of criminals in prison, stolen cars found due to a tail light out or the random plate being checked.

Somebody shot the $1200 windshield in my '59 Skyliner with a BB gun. Hagerty was the best! They covered it no sweat and then sent my car a get well card! That was hilarious and made me feel like the truly do care.

Could the officer have been able to run the plate you had displayed on your bumper?
The problem here is that the officer was not trained in the laws he is supposed to enforce and more importantly he failed to find out without being disrespectful rude (which is why people don't like most cops). It is NOT up to the civilian to train the police. As I said before, the officer will be the 1st to tell you "Ignorance is no defense"

I would kindly speak with his CO and let them know that he was disrespectful to you and he was ill informed of the laws as to which he should be aware of.
Sad to say, typical that he decided you were wrong and he could not be bothered to contact his CO for clarification. At any rate, he should be informed of the laws. He will be the 1st to tell you "Ignorance is no excuse"

We have a recycling center where you can take just about any liquid. They have an entire room with shelves filled with good, but partially used cans of paint donated for a couple bucks a can.
