Go to a good hardware store and get a bottle of caustic soda for septic tanks. Mix with water and let sit. That's what he will use.

The reason the switch may operate tightly is it may need lubrication. There is pot metal in them that swells over time.

OK, if you look at the color charts they list the major color and minor color. That would be the light and dark in your B&W. And usually have black fenders but were available with body color. I have known of at least one Victory that had body color suspension too. Most of this is buried in the Important Information papers. The other Dick Perry has a Senior sedan that is light and dark tan with body colored fenders just like your picture.

I'm thinking there are color charts for Seniors in the library collection. I know there are for Victories and DAs by dates. For example, ALL DA sedans were painted black with red pinstripes and wire wheels for 4 days when my DA was built. The non black fenders was available as was body colored chassis.

Hey Matt, that looks like about a '70 Challenger in your picture. Which means she's about 80 now. So the belt might be used to tuck them in by now. Just sayin'.

You could cast that yourself. There is liquid casting urethane available from several sources. I buy from MSC and would use 80 durometer, liquid not putty. The metal has to be cleaned of ALL oils, glass beaded if possible. Seal the bottom with tape or clay. Suspend the part in the proper position and pour in the liquid. It sets up in about 24 hour hours and you can trim it with a razor blade if needed at that point. After a few days you won't be able to trim it very easily as it cures. Practice on a piece of metal, let it cure and try to remove the urethane after about a week. It really bonds good. Mixing the right amount of A and B is important, use a gram scale.

To ME the important piece of cable to upsize goes from battery to switch. The factory size in the sheath should be good.

There are many of these for sale.

The two wire fits the 10000 distributor from 1918. I think you have a 10004, stamped on the side of the housing.
-
It will take off the crud and make polishing much easier.

That carbon track around the distributor cap can cause trouble. A white ink eraser will remove it. Don't sand it out or glass bead it. It will make it worse. I think you found a good car light years better then a T.

I was thinking it was a '17. I did remember it having a Delco distributor instead of a mag. It's the only unrestored car in the museum. Fabulous museum if you ever get to Fairbanks. Take notice this car has the early front fenders, but a honeycomb radiator and louvered hood.

Fountainhead has an unrestored 1916 touring car that was used before the bus.

Don't buff it yet. Put it in a pan with white vinegar for about an hour.

Yea, just so they don't think it's a coupe.

Good for you, glad the deal worked out. I think you have a winner.

Yes, 14 would be correct. They were changing the cars so often they had 3 or 5 different manuals per year. If you don't have one a copy can be gotten from AACA library. Not a lot of 1920 or 21 DBs out there. BTW, the club will be in Brooking, S. D. middle of June if you're not doing anything, like working.

Congrats on the purchase, you did good. I would get it home ASAP. I will look at BofI list but you want the one printed JUST before the car was built, 14 sounds close. Join the DBC if you are not a member, we have a ton of literature we keep at AACA library.

You are going to wish for a long time that you had bid, especially when you come to Hershey!😁

Axial, I am thinking BAT is one of the sites that adds minutes if it's bid on in the last minute to stop cherry picking.

Your not that old Doug I’m sure you can squeeze another car in there somewhere.
Only if I wanted to sleep in it. I am sure an expert will correct me but I think the upholstry is correct. It's going to take more then 2800 to buy it Axial.

If I was young enough this would be exactly the condition I'd want to be buying a car in.

Odd eBay Item “Dodge Bros Fire Dept”
in Dodge & Dodge Brothers
Posted
You are right. I quoted something without listing chapter and verse where I read it. It's in either the Confidential papers or Important Information papers plus Hyde's book that letters or even checks were sent back or thrown away if it did not list both brothers names or did not use use Dodge Brothers with a capital letter B. The brothers had no control after 1920, many things were done differently then they would have approved. The picture of the interior of the factory was taken in 1980. Any idea when the alarm was made?
