We would paint the body first then have our local pinstriper stripe it by hand. Packard pinstriping was usually very narrow, about 1/16" wide or so. In my opinion pinstriping should be used sparingly. Too much and you end up with a circus wagon.

Isn't there one on e-bay right now?

I think the purple antique plates only started in the 60's. They came about due to the efforts of a group of collectors within the AACA. I know the late George Dohne of York was one of the group and held a very low number plate thaough not #1 as I remember. I used to know who had plate #1 but can't remember now. I'm sure someone will fill in the details.

Just a reminder, deadline for flea market pre-registration for Hershey 2007 is Friday the 16th. Can't believe this will be our 40th Hershey.

Every message board, club or organization I have ever been associated with has had its share of individuals who thrive on drama. Peter has accepted full responsibility for the inconvenience of deleted posts and likely will handle the situation differently in the future. Now let's move on, shall we?

In the meantime I found a source and have ordered a supply. Al Lepore in Conn. Thanks!

Need source for Nickle plated Alemite pin type grease fittings with caps, both straight and 90 deg version. Thanks!

Thanks! We're having Ross make them. Nice folks to deal with.

Found it! Thanks!

We are looking for a sample or a mixing formula for a late 30's Packard color IRIDIUM GREY POLY IM # 1813. The PPG Color Library was unable to supply us with a modern equivalent. Does anyone have a chip of this color? Thanks!

Years ago I was offered a late 40's Plymouth convertible at a very reasonable price, I thought. Went to look at it and it had been stored for years in an underground potato cellar within 100 feet or so of a creek. What a shame. The thing was intact but you could literally push your finger thru the sheetmetal almost anywhere on the body. The fellow was upset that I poked a hole in his door just with my finger. I passed on the deal.

Can anyone recommend a source for early pistons other than Egge or Jahns? Neither can supply us with pistons for a '26 Kissel, diameter 3.3125" compression heighth 1.91" or so.

I can't answer that. Maybe talk to the carb guru who posts now and then? CarbDoctor?

You often see Ball and Ball (B& carbs fitted to early updraft engines.

About 15 years ago I had an employee who had a girlfriend whose Father had been a Regional Manager with Sinclair, as I remember. In her possession was a shoe box containing a photo of what I became convinced was every gas station, no matter how small and no matter the brand they were pedalling, that was operating in York County, PA in about 1958 or so. Fascinating! I tried to buy the box or even buy permission to make copies but no luck. Both the employee and the girlfriend with her box have long since moved on. Too bad.

Thanks for the info. I think I've found a place here in the US to have them made. From what I've seen of stainless castings the fine detail would be lost. We have sand castings made on a regular basis but these handles have an intricate filigree pattern on them that would not transfer with sand casting. They are not something for which there would be a market so there would be no economy of scale. Always expensive to have just 1 or 2 of a part made but that's the restoration game I suppose.

Need 1 manifold "bridge clamp" that holds the manifold onto the block. Lozenge shaped formed washer maybe 1 1/4" long by 3/4" wide with a hole in the center. Fits over a stud and clamps 2 runners in place.

Anyone? Must be some of these somewhere on planet Earth.

Must be some of these somewhere in AACA land.

Is your ashtray a one piece affair or is the woodgrained insert removeable? I found one of the 2 ashtrays I have and it most definitely has a lid. I think I have a second one but at 9 degrees the garage was a bit cold for scrounging.
-
I'll try to remember to take a look at mine this evening. I have a poor quality xerox of a '32 accessory catalog. The ashtray is pictured and it does appear to have a lid.
-
I'm almost sure it has a lid. Mine is stashed away at home. Mounts in the center of the upper dash trim and is removeable for emptying. I think it is chrome with woodgrained inserts. Mine is for a 900, yours may differ.

Don't remember whether the screen is just under the upholstery or on the backside of the kick panel. These screens show up on e-bay from time to time.

What weight oil do you use in the transmission?
Identify a Brass Petrol/Fuel Valve
in What is it?

Hmmmm, that valve certainly looks familiar. I believe it's from a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. When I talk to the owner of our speedster project I'll ask.
