JC Whitney/Warshawsky, Pep Boys, and even your FLAPS influenced a lot of "style" and "personalization" in the 1950s and 1960s. Fuzzy dice were one of the milder things that could be added to make your car your own. Never mind airboddy else had the same trinkety stuff on theirs.
I came along at a time when hanging your high school graduation tassel on the rearview mirror was the thing. Also putting a piece of colored cellophane inside the dome light lens to create "ambient lighting".
About 30 years ago there were LIGHTED fuzzy dice. Plug it into yer lighter socket and hope you didn't forget to unplug it during daylight and come back to a weak or dead battery.
Hey, Glenn. Don’t forget putting balls of aluminum foil between the hub cap and wheel hoping it would foul cop’s radar readings as the wheel spun. (I can attest that it did not work…😳)
Ah, the ‘ol’ tassel hanging on the rear view mirror…I thought that was too impress the radar cop that I was somewhat intelligent…(this also did not work…😳)

My wife has a phrase she uses all too often. It is appropriate most of the time. I keep telling her to write a book using it as a title.
"Men are idiots"Make of it what you will.

Don Barlup, a past president of the
Gettysburg Region AACA and a retired
board member of the national AACA,
actually lives in New Bloomfield. Maybe
that's who Peter above was thinking of.
I can give you Don's phone number if you wish.
Or maybe you're buying a car from Don!
OP informed me it is not Don.

As mentioned above I sent him a PM. Yes I was thinking it is Don however I did not include a phone number as that is none of my business. Waiting for the OP to respond to the PM.
Thank you anyway, John.

Just don't get old and you won't have to worry!
I will be 77 on October 2nd, Steve. I promise to let you know for about 4 months prior to you checking it out on your own…😳

Hey, Bill. Forward the email to the Moderators immediately so they can deal with it. They can then ban him/her if necessary.
To report: Click on the 3 little dots in the upper right hand corner of a post and a drop-down will offer either “Report or Share”.

My comment has nothing to do with this. Just a pragmatic remark on the youngest people actually buying project cars.
Thanks for clarifying.

I responded. Pretty good questions. Though I would put younger people as up to about age 30. Pretty uncommon for people around age 20 to have the money or space for old cars unless a close friend or family member is already doing it.
I must disagree. The younger the better. I must agree with the AACA’s standpoint that there is absolutely no mandate that to be a member or simply have an interest in old vehicles you must own one or more. That is where owners come into the picture by encouraging younger people to ride in or help older folks in restoration projects.

Cman640…
Have you scrolled around the AACA home page? Therein is the AACA History, Library & Research Center, AACA Rules & Regs, all sorts of info. So much more than the forum General arena.

So, years ago we requested that forum members stop using the survey option that was available on our software. There were too many problems associated with it. However, I believe I speak for the club that we certainly hope that those so inclined will help this young man out as he has clarified what he is doing. We are all for high school students getting involved in the hobby and this young man is doing it in his education as well as wanting to get his hands dirty. Bravo. I personally will now got to his survey and probably skew the heck out of the results!
Thank you, Steve. C640man is good to go.

Funny, we complain about the lack of young people getting involved in the hobby. Then an interested high school kid comes on the forum doing research (that most of us would probably be interested in), and he gets the 3rd degree, hostile-toned interrogation by some members. Way to go! "Gee,why aren't more young people involved with the old cars?" Ha ha
I reported it.

I was unaware of this rule. Where/ who do I contact to get approval for my survey?
A website administrator will get back soon.

In the past any outside surveys required AACA headquarter approval. Did you get the appproval?

Couldn't have asked for better weather or show. Only $10 registration, appreciation awards, trophies, live music, reasonable food ( 1/2 grilled chicken with all the fixens with desert for $12 ), FREE trailer parking. Everything except dancing girls........... AND they still make a profit for charitable good works.
Wondering why they can do it and others can't............Bob
I have to stop going by faulty memory, Bob. Thanks for correcting me…👍

Cutlasguy…thank you for the pics.
Wondering if that red ‘57 Buick convertible belongs to Forum member Bhigdog? It sure is nice looking.

WHAT? Today I learned. Do you mean when I report a spam post the software doesn't tell the administrators which user posted it? That is completely insane, but it explains a lot. I'll type the screen name in the future.
No, Bloo…they can see they can see the user. I always post the name and reason at issue. Sure doesn’t hurt. Should a post be vague as to why I take offense.

I got the same thing this morning. A member with no previous posting was telling me his friend had a part I was looking for months ago. He suggested I email his friend "he might still have the part". I thought it was strange because in my posting I noted I had since located and purchased the part I needed.
If you would have immediately reported it the Administrators could have tracked and banned whomever. CLICK ON THE 3 LITTLE DOTS AT THE TOP CORNER OF ANY POST. THEN A DROP DOWN WILL GIVE YOU 2 CHOICES: 1-REPORT 2-SHARE. CLICK ON “REPORT”. Then it will display a Comments area. Type in the spammers handle. Without the handle (screen name) Admins will not be able to track and ban.
To threaten in public the wrath of fire and brimstone such the spammer will one day pay for his transgressions serves no purpose..

Mr. LaSalle, I agree that that was a scam.
Sometimes a criminal will join, and then
make a succession of nearly useless postings
to establish "credibility" and earn the right to
send private messages. Such postings are
usually very brief and add nothing to the
forum conversation, such as "Nice car."
Other times, the postings may be nearly
copies of someone else's legitimate posting
above, to try to sound authentic.
Have scammers ever thought of the punishment
that awaits them for lying, cheating, and stealing?
Whoa…are you aware that the appropriate steps are to report this to Peter Gariepy?
How about placing a picture of a gallows next to AACA headquarters. It just might scare the spammers away.

The OP asked for “new or old” photos. You had some in the past. Still have them?
