  1. A machine shop just billed me about $500 to machine an intake manifold to match my exhaust manifold. Does this seem high to you? I have no choice but to pay it, but will tell him I think it is very high. At $100 an hour that means it took 5 hours to set up and fuzz cut it!

I'll have to check on the manifold. Do you happen to have the casting number on it?

What other Model 70 parts are you looking for?

The casting numbers are very hard to read  looks like 303975  4    or  808975   4.  manifold has a 1/8" pipe threaded hole on bottom for a drain tube,  later models had a larger hole for a fumer. I can send you a picture if I can get an email address or cell number.

  3. True that the engine does run very warm, I use water wetter and that helps. A radiator shroud would really help but I show for points. Keeping the engine tuned up helps a lot too. I do not run a thermostat. I have driven up to 50 miles, car hates parades!

I have a spare 268 cu in engine that I'll check behind he water pump.

I'm still looking for an intake manifold for a 218 with a downdraft can. Using JB Weld on mine .

  4. When I came home from overseas, I put several items in a box. Each one was wrapped and had my home address on it, these were put in a box with my address on it in large block letters, this box was inside another box that was addressed. This was a large box and they lost it! Had large jade statues, 2 bolts of pure silk, and about 24 rolls of exposed 35 mm film.  All lost, they offered me next to nothing for my loss and paid my just what I paid. I'd say they x rayed the box and knew what was in it.

  5. I don't know how much I paid because I had a restoration shop do the whole car. If you are in or close to Ohio I can recommend some people.  Do you have a shop that does soda blasting? Might want to check with them. If you take the wheels apart you have to assemble them just like they came apart. number the spokes. A press was used to assemble the spokes in the rim. My wheels were not taken apart when refinished.
