  1. THANKS FOR THE INFO GUYS, I'VE SENT BRUCE AN EMAIL, I'LL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT TURNS OUT. I HAVE A 65 88 THAT HAS A 400 TURBO, SWITCH PITCH, WHICH IS A PARTS CAR. IT APPEARS THE SWITCH WOULD WORK ON THE CUTLASS. CAN'T A MANUAL SWITCH BE RIGGED TO CONTROL THE CONVERTER? NOT ONLY AM I HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SWITCH, IT MAY BE MY FAULT, IN PART. THE ORIGINAL QJET WAS GONE. I PUT A NEW HOLLEY (BAD IDEA) ON THE CAR, NOT CONSIDERING THE WHOLE PICTURE. HAVING AN ELECTRIC CHOKE IS GREAT, BUT, THIS THROWS OFF THE GEOMETERY OF THE WHOLE SET-UP. I TRIED ADJUSTING ALL THINGS THE OTHER DAY, BUT DIDN'T ACCOMPLISH MUCH. THE SWITCH SEEMS TO SEND AN ERRATIC SIGNAL, NOW WORSE THAN EVER!!! IS IT POSSIBLE THAT NOT MOVING AS IT SHOULD SOMEHOW HURT THE SWITCH? IT HAS STOPS, IT SHOULDEN'T HYPER EXTEND. ANYONE HAVE A CARB???? THANKS, MIKE

  4. I HAVE A 66 CUTLASS WITH A SWITCH PITCH, OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED,CONVERTER. IT WORKS, BUT NOT PROPERLY. WHEN YOU PULL OUT AT AN EASY PACE, IT STARTS WITH THE CONVERTER IN "LOW", SOMETHING SHIFTS, THEN THE OTHER SHIFTS, IT SOUNDS LIKE A 3 SPEED TRANS, BUT IT IS THE ORIGINAL JETAWAY 2 SPEED. IF YOU GIVE IT A GOOD BIT OF THROTTLE WHEN THE TRANS IN IN FIRST GEAR, AND THE CONVERTER IS IN "LOW" IT IMMEDIATELY PUTS THE CONVERTER IN "HIGH", AND IT NO LONGER SEEMS LIKE A 3 SPEED TRANSMISSION, IT THEN ACTS LIKE A 2 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THIS SEEMS LIKE THE SWITCH FOR THE CONVERTER WORKS BACKWARDS!! WHAT IS MY PROBLEM? I HAVE A 1966 OLDSMOBILE CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL, BUT I CANT FIND ANYTHING ON THE TROBLESHOTING OF THE SWITCH PITCH CONVERTER.   5. I had a 65 GS, and if my memory is right the AC filter number is A86CW. If your sticker is still on the air cleaner housing, and this is the correct number, I can still get it from my local auto parts store. You can try that at the parts store near you, or you can email me and I would be glad to get one for you and send it to you.   6. I need a complete set of air conditioning compressor brackets. I will use them on my 67 GS400 convertible clone ( 430 ) engine from a 69 Electra. They don't need to be from a true 67 400, but it would be nice if they were a cast deal "similar" to the originals. I am not knowledgeable enough about this subject to know what would and would not look like it belonged. Or if I could buy a complete set of stamped steel brackets for all the accessories on the front of the engine I could make them all match at least, ( the PS, and alt bracket are now cast aluminum ). I BOUGHT ONE FROM ORIGINAL PARTS GROUP, AND IT HUNG DOWN 3 INCHES BELOW THE CENTER OF THE REAR END.   9. COMPLETE 61 F85 4 DOOR PARTS CAR FOUND SITTING DOWN ON THE FARM. I DONT THINK THERE ANY USEABLE BODY PARTS, IT IS VERY RUSTY. GOOD GLASS. IT IS COMPLETE NOT SHOWING DAMAGE FROM ANY ACCIDENT. IT HAS A 215 AUTOMATIC, COMPLETE FACTORY AIR, A PAIR OF FINNED ALUMINUM ROCKER COVERS WITH THE OLDSMOBILE INSIGNIA ON THEM ( THEY LOOK FACTORY ) POWER STEERING AND BRAKES.   12. Are these transmissions reliable? I have heard that 63 Skylark auto transmissions are not a good unit at all. Being same year and body size GM cars make me wonder if they share these transmission problems. If so, are there any suggestions about to overcome, swap out, or in some way get rid of the problematic transmission? dadphelps@yahoo.com

  20. I previously posted looking for a 65 pulley. And Joe Oiler sent one to me from Tenessee. Thanks Joe. Well I made a mistake. I dont need a 65 pulley. I need a 66 pulley. I need a waterpump pulley, 3 groove, for airconditioned 66 Delta 88. The engine is a 425ci. The part number on the pulley should be 391114JH. I went to a local yard and got a bent one from a 66 Delta hit in the front, but it is so bad it is not usable. That is the number that was on that pulley. Please help if you can.   22. My 66 Cutlass had an add on air conditioner at some point. It was long gone when I bought it. And in that add on process they changed the bracket for the alternator, to an aftermarket bracket. I would like to have a set of original brackets for my car, I think those would look muck better. dadphelps@yahoo.com
  23. I need a waterpump pulley for a 65 425 motor. It is in my Delta. My pully was lost when working on the engine, a little freshing up. It would be a 3 groove pully. Thanks Mike Phelps
