12. Just give Danny @ The Bumper Shop a call and explain what you want. They do show quality work also. (323)585-2921
13. The squeel you hear is caused by harmonics(a vibration of the pad against the rotor that the human ear can hear). To change the frequency or pitch (so that it can't be heard), the rotors must be "swirl finished" (a non-directional machining to the surface) and the pads need new insulators or insulating "goop" placed on the back surface. We've had good luck with the new Bendix IQ (imports) and SUV (all others)pads at our shop. They both include new insulator hardware. Take the car back and complain about the noise untill they fix it!
[This message has been edited by nailvalve (edited 02-18-2001).]

215 parts

Although there are many places to find parts, the best source I've found is D&D Fabrications @ (810) 798-2491. They SPECIALIZE in only 215 parts. Intakes, carbs, stroker kits, late model trans adapters, etc. Once you've decided which parts you want, then call the other places and compare to find the best price.

Chrome

Give The Bumper Shop a try. I've had good luck with their quality and prices are reasonable. Their Ph # is: (323)585-2921. STAY AWAY FROM THE BUMPER BOYZ!!!!! Very poor quality!!

[This message has been edited by nailvalve (edited 02-08-2001).]
16. Try it again. Just ordered a few items for my '66 without any problems.
17. It might be helpfull to the folks if they knew what engine it's for. 350 or 455 ?
18. No, it will have the "Q-Jet style" carb with the small primarys and much larger secondarys and the intake will be the same. It was usually on the 425s and an option on the Skylark GS with the 401.
Do you have a "cross-over" or "H" pipe on you exhaust? If not, it will help your low end power while making the sound a little quieter.
19. Changing the cam would hurt the lower rpm power. A better bet would be to locate a '66 Q-jet intake & carb, re-curve that distributor and put a good 2.5" dual exhaust system on the car. That would help the power in all rpm ranges with an increase in mileage to boot.
20. 1966 Skylark GranSport (It's driven everywhere!)
21. Hey..Old Guy,
You might find it interesting that the Showboat got a little faster over the years. It's best ET & MPH is 8.12 & 193+!!!! Actually it was with the aluminum Riv/wagon body and called the Rivera WagonMaster at that time. Not too bad for 4000 lbs on gas!
[This message has been edited by nailvalve (edited 01-08-2001).]
22. If your happy with the performance, then nothing. I would though, get it re-jetted for your engine. Who knows what it's at now. How did you hook up the solenoid for the trans? Jim
23. Justin, I would suggest getting another carb. 600cfm is just too small for a 401! For a good all around street carb 750 is ok and for street/strip at least 800cfm should be used. Changing the jets doesn't change the air flow. I wouldn'd waste my time or money fooling with the carb you have.
24. Besides a lot of feedback over the years, two quick sources for the timing setting are: April 1966 Hot Rod Magazine did an article called Blueprint for Buicks. Using "Pop" Kennedy and three other Buick racers as the source. And also Street Rodder did a dyno test on a 401 in August 1997. The 35 degree setting would be ok for a 455. I'm getting no pinging on 92 octane and can break the tires loose when I nail it @ 25 mph. That's with 2.93 rear gears!
25. Ok, forget about Coker. What do you have against Diamond Back tires ?
