1. I picked up two boxes of "Empire" brand Tire Bolts at a flea market and have no idea what they are used for. They were in with a bunch of automotive stuff, so I assume they are auto related. They are 1/4 inch diameter and came in two lengths, 2-1/4" and 2-1/2". The head is similar to a standard flat head machine screw, but has no slot for a screwdriver. By the printing on the boxes I'd say they are early 1900's. Any idea what these were used for?

 2. Hello,
I am looking for a couple good hubcaps for a 1924 Studebaker Light Six. These are 2-3/4" inside diameter on the threaded end, are straight sided (as opposed to the later mushroom style caps)and about 2-1/4 tall with the script "S" on the end. These are different than the earlier 1920 to 1923 Light Six caps which are smaller (2-1/2") diameter.
Email me at dpson@together.net. I also have Light Six parts for sale or trade. Thanks.

 3. Roy Duffield of Mullica Hill, NJ has several NOS early Studebaker fenders advertised for sale in this months HMN. I've spoken with him and he has a left front (#105098) and pair of rears for '23~'24 Big Six, two left rears for the early ('20~'22) Light Six and several others unidentified. He's asking $250/ea and can be reached at (856)478-2527.
BTW, I'm looking for a good left rear fender for a '23~'24 Light Six Touring Car. I have a good spare right rear to sell or trade.

 4. NORS Thermoid fan belts for sale, these are old belts that are still flexible, no cracks, etc., but due to their age would probably be best used as spares. Red in color. Application as noted on the boxes as follows (may have other applications);
V-32 Studebaker Commander(early)
Six 1929-1928
V-83 Studebaker Model 6 1931
Model 6-53 (&others) 1931-1929
Dictator 6 (after 1416322) 1929-1928
Erskine Model 53 1930
V-92 Erskine Model 50,51,52 1929-1927
$20 each plus $5 shipping (only one of each available). 5. I looked at the Special Six motor last Friday. Actually it's the radiator, motor, cowl, toe boards, clutch and tranny on a cut off section of frame. Engine is complete with all accessories (starter, generator, distributor, etc., all Wagner). The head had the word "special" cast into it and was dated 1-6-22. The whole works has been sitting outside for several years and although covered by the hood sections, the condition of the engine is questionable (I didn't try to turn it). The exhaust manifold is cracked. If anyone is interested, drop me a note. The owner is asking $400 for the works and if there is enough interest I might consider buying to part out.

 6. I'm looking at a circa 1922 Studebaker Special (or perhaps Big Six) motor that is for sale in my area (northern Vermont) this Friday. I don't need this for my Light Six, but couldn't pass up looking at it anyway. If anyone is interested let me know. BTW is there a quick way to identify these engines, such as casting numbers, etc? Thanks.

 7. Thanks Neil,
I only need one lens, I bought a whole headlight for $35 to get one lens. I figure $15~$20 for a single lens would be tops. I'm going to a meet in Bennington (VT) next weekend and they often have older parts there (versus miles of Mustang and Camaro parts) so I'll keep an eye out for a 9 inch Liberty Lens for your car. What is your price limit? Would you want an entire headlight to get the lens and if so what's your price limit on that? BTW I added a post regarding "too many relays", take a look.
I'll be happy to add your Liberty lenses to my 'want' list. BUT ON CONDITION! That when you attend swap meets you look for 9" Liberty lenses for my '26 Big Six.
Any idea how high you would go for a pair of good clean lenses? Will you accept singles? Often it's easier to find singles than a pair. The letters 'N-4764' aren't necessarily very important. It just so happens that the lenses that you looked at were that series, but any series 8 1/2" Liberty would be correct.
Neil M

 8. I was a auto show last weekend in Amherst, NH and a vendor from Mass. had a 1913 4 cyl. Studebaker chassis, incl, engine, radiator, steering, column, frame, drivetrain, etc for sale. The asking price was $1500. The wood in the wheels was bad. If anyone is interested please let me know.
