  1. Hi Rich

I can't help you with a name of a rebuilder, but I have some NOS parts for the 8 Olds motor. I have a NOS Head and exhaust manifold, Both pieces are NEW and Original Olds. The head is high compression. Both still have perfect OLds dark Green paint.

If interested e-mail me at palbuick@aol.com

  2. Its like anything else. When working on something like replacing a timing chain, as long as it is apart replace all three parts. Do it once and probably never have to do it again. If its a straight eight it a pain in the A** to do.

  3. Are you converting to disc brakes?

I have complete front end with disc brakes, including booster , all brake lines, steering box and all linkage, sway bar. This was cut from a 68 Skylark, and the disc brakes are from a 70, the 70s had the single piston caliper, where the original 68s had the dual cylinder caliper.

Unit is for sale at $400.00. Pick up in Rockford Il.

  4. I would be great to have a site devoted to only jacks, as so many are looking for correct jacks, not that they would use them. I have my original 1940 Jack but would not use it, I opted for a 1956 Buick jack, it is a side frame jack, no damage to bumpers or body.

I have a collection of old jacks about 25 some cast other steel, and would like to identify them. I find them at a lot of auctions in the farm belt, where farmers never threw anything away.

  6. I heard many years ago that years ago the mechanics used furnace style sealer to seal these joints. This was a pliable material, probably asbestos mixture, of what, I don't know. I have seen some manifolds with a sealer in the two joints. Try an older Ace HArdware or independent hardware store. Menards, home depot, the people there would have no idea of what this is.

  7. HI John

    Its me again

I used the plasticote on my 66 and 70 motors. I found that it was great, good color and a lot less burn off. I had tried one of the Buick vendors red engine paint, spilled some antifreeze on it and it stained the paint. Never bothered the Palsticote paint. Universal red was the color.

  8. I don't believe that they were plated. Only had a zinc plating covering outside. In the Bucik club hand book there is an article on the colors of gas tanks. Your 54 may even have undercoating on it.
