  1. Hello! I’m working on adding A/C to my 51 shoebox Ford but I’m not sure which kit to go with. The car is still running a stock 8BA Flathead V8 but has been converted to 12v negative ground with an alternator. I don’t really have any way to machine custom brackets or anything like that, so the kit would have to be bolt on. I see that Shoebox central has a plug and play kit, but I’ve not heard any reviews really. I know VintageAir makes top quality stuff, but they don’t have a specific kit for this car so I’m not sure how that would work, even though they do have universal kits. Any advice is greatly appreciated, as summer is fast approaching! Thanks!
  2. Hello everyone, I’m looking at purchasing a 1928 Dodge Victory Six, but I’m wondering how good parts availability is on these? I wouldn’t want to buy it if parts were unobtainable. Thanks for any info you can give me!
  3. By more practical I mean strictly in the sense that it has more storage and usable rear seats.
  4. The previous owner that this guy got it from swore that those colors on the rims and car are accurate to when it was new, I just wonder who walked into a dealership and ORDERED that combo 😂
  5. I put the spoiler on the fiat, thought it was funny lol. Thankfully didn’t have to do any drilling so it would come off without damaging the car.
  6. That was my original plan, but that 850 has proven to be pretty impossible to sell despite its condition.
  7. The whitewalls are a bit older, I think about 10 years old, but there’s no evidence of cracking so I’ll probably run them for a while. Personally I like the whitewall look lol
  8. Well the fiat is super small, it has no storage whatsoever. The Model A however I could take grocery shopping with how much room it has. That’s the difference in practicality to me.
  9. Mine isn’t, that’s why I was drawn to it to begin with. It’s a rare survivor 850 lol. It’s just not practical enough, with a model A I could actually do an errand run in that.
  10. I plan on putting an overdrive in it and finding some period correct accessories for it.
  11. I’m with ya on the rims, but according to the owner that’s the factory correct color that it would have came with new, and I like the whitewalls so I can’t promise that 🤣🤣
  12. Hello everyone! I recently have been working on a possible trade, I have two classic cars I’m trading as a package deal, one needing a resto and the other being almost turnkey but not perfect. The one needing a restoration is a 53 studebaker champion starlight coupe. The drivetrain seems healthy, but it needs a bit of everything. I’ll attach a picture but keep in mind it photographs a bit better than it looks IRL. The other car is a 1972 Fiat 850 Spider. Good little car, needs some maintenance but that’s about it. Fun car, but not practical and it seems like they’re near impossible to sell. The car I’m most likely trading for is a 1930 Ford model A. Other than needing a detail and a couple small cosmetic touchups, it’s perfect. Everything works, runs and drives like new. Value wise, it’s an even trade, but Im just double guessing myself lol. What do y’all think? I’ve attached pictures of all 3.
  13. It's not as rough as it looks, not to say it isn't rough lol. The pictures make the rust issues look a lot worse than they actually were, just really ugly surface rust for the most part. The whole car is remarkably solid.
  14. I actually owned that exact car for a while before selling it, other than the driver's side floor pan and one hole in the fender, as far as rust went it was surprisingly solid and only went skin deep. 90% surface rust, and looked a million times worse than it actually was. Ended up buying it back and I'm working on the restoration currently!
  15. I’m pretty sure the commanders and champions shared the same body but had different drivetrains, I may be wrong though.
  16. It seems like a car he started to restore but didn’t finish. He said that it has an all new brake system and included a video of it running, it sounds healthy. It looks like it needs the Continental spare tire cover, some interior pieces, and some wiring to be complete.
  17. Hello everyone, someone has offered to buy my Studebaker (which I have mentioned before on the forums) and the sale would give me just enough funds to buy a running and *almost* driving 1947 Lincoln Continental coupe with the flathead V12. It apparently needs wiring and some interior work, and that’s it. I’m considering buying it (if the sale of the studebaker goes through) but I’m really worried about parts availability and just the general upkeep of the car, because every website I look at online has ZERO parts for the car. Any advice is greatly appreciated, because I’ve always loved these Lincolns and this one is solid, but I’m very worried lol.
  18. I guess I’m just going to have to drive the car around with the tires and see what happens lol.
  19. Hello everyone, I bought some 7.00-15 tires for my Studebaker Champion thinking they would be smaller than 7.10-15 tires since I didn’t understand Bias Ply tire sizes at the time and frankly I still don’t lol. These cars came with 6.40-15 and 7.10-15 tires, and I’m worried that the 7.00-15 tires won’t fit. Am I screwed? Thanks for any info you can give me.
  20. His excuse was that he didn’t want to put any money into a car he was getting rid of lol, but the more he tells me about the car sounds more and more like the modulator might be fine and he just doesn’t know what it’s supposed to be like😂. He says that it feels like it shifts out of 1st into 2nd at about 10-15mph and then stays in 2nd gear until it gets to like 50-55mph and then it will shift into 3rd. He says it seems to like higher RPM to shift. Is this normal for one of these?
  21. Can you post a link? I’m probably just dumb but I looked on there and I couldn’t find it 😂
  22. Hello, I’m looking into getting an 1960 AMC rambler cross country that’s in great condition, but the only thing wrong with it is that it won’t shift gears until the engine is revving higher than it should. The owner says that it just needs a Vacuum Modulator solenoid replaced on the flashomatic transmission, and it will be fine. How hard is it to replace this part and where would I even go about finding one? I’ve done some searching online and I can’t seem to find one although it seems like a common issue. Should I pass on this rambler because of this issue? I don’t have experience with the flashomatic so I wouldn’t know lol. Thank you for any help you can give me.
