  1. Yeah, so it's called a transfer. T Decal was kinda close. I wonder if they're available anywhere. Painting the same color as interior would suffice but I'd like to keep as oral possible. And that detail is quite a statement
  2. I remember reading something somewhere that describes it as like a decal where you rub it on the panels
  3. Does anyone know a forum for just old Lincolns? They're quite unique. I'm doing a full rebuild of my 54 Capri and have, and will have many specific questions.
  4. It's hard to see on these pics but the left side of dash curves to the door and both areas have the gold color on them. The right side also.
  5. I'm trying to find what was used on the dash and parts of the front door panels. It looks almost like a decal of gold leaf. Anyone know if it's available or should I just paint instead?
  6. Putting the problem in the topic probably won't fit and then it's worse than being vague, a half finished sentence
  7. My 317 y block is being put back together by my mechanic and he's ready to put the oil pan back on but there's a oil tube from the pan to the pump that's damaged from taking the engine out. It has to be on the outside of the pan and bolts go through it, then the pan and then thru the pickup tube flange in the pan. I need to find another outside tube so everything can be put together. The ends of the tube has a flange on one end and a threaded piece for the pump end. They're welded to the tube so replacing the tube would be too difficult for me. Anyone know someone with parts or an engine they're parting out? Will not be an easy find
  8. Found out that the compressor is a Lehigh V93 unit. It seems to still be working. My mechanic spun the pulley with his finger over one of the nipples and it was making pressure. Think that's a good sign that it may not need rebuilding
  9. As stated above I live in southern Arizona. I took some pictures of the innerds of the engine to prove my point that just trying to start it would have been a mistake without seeing the inside. As you can see it has rust in the water jackets( I believe that's what the water flows thru). One of the jackets is almost completely blocked on the head gasket. Rust and debris in the cylinder wouldn't have been very helpful being scraped around in there. I can only imagine what's in the oil pan.
  10. Fyi, I'm in southern Arizona, Sierra Vista. The car was stored in Tucson for the 57 year siesta. I did disassemble the interior first thing cuz there was a ton of mouse activity in there and it was just plain old nasty. Seats were almost completely gone, carpet covered with crap. Plus I wanted to see what was hiding beneath the carpet, rust-wise, which luckily, was none. I am also hoping to change the front brakes to disc and power brake master cylinder to a two line system. I was just thinking that the rubber in the steering and suspension has been in this dry climate it's whole life, that they would be needing to be charged out. Haven't really looked at them yet. We want to change the color of the car from the green to a yellow with dark green roof, so that's another reason I'm pulling the motor out. Been taking a lot of pics while disassembling everything for reference to put it back together.
  11. Ok, understood. First off, there is no carb and before I spend $700 on a carb, I want to see what the condition of the upper and lower heads are, and see if a rebuild or new motor is best. The spark plugs were removed sometime between 1965 and 2022 so I felt there was a good chance moisture or pack rats got in to get the cylinders compromised. After I opened the heads I found the heads were really gunky, looks like thick black grease all over everything. I got one head off and there was a little rust in one cylinder and a little debris in another. Looks like a lot of carbon buildup on the top of some of the pistons. I know there's not a lot of miles on her but it is quite grungy in there. My wife wanted me to build her a nice mid 50s car and wants it done in 5 years. We expect to invest around 50k. I was planning on doing as much of the work on it as I can, tearing down the engine and rebuilding it myself. If a shop is required, it'll be utilized. True, I am a novice but am retired and need a hobby. I realize it'll be costly, especially being a Lincoln with factory air, but am anxious to dive in and learn. So far every nut, bolt and screw has come off without cutting or heating, so that's a positive for me. Entire body part and floor is solid and straight, so it's mainly going to be mechanical, interior and paint. I appreciate your advise and warnings but I feel I have the right attitude and expectations
  12. I think I will pull them both out together then seperate them after. I have a manual but it doesn't have much info about the tranny at all.
  13. Hello again. I'm in the process of taking the 317 from my 54 lincoln capri. Man are those heads heavy. My first question is... How many bolts hold the tranny to the engine? When the engine comes out, does the torque converter stay on the tranny or motor? As a refresher, there are 68k miles on the engine, it was parked inside since 1965. The plugs were removed sometime since parked along with the carb, which is missing. It does turn, not stuck. When I removed the carpet from the interior, there was a spot about the size of a football of surface rust, no holes. Just gonna wire wheel it with my drill. The frame and rockers, floor pans, fenders, trunk all rust free. Not a single sign of rust, no holes. All brightwork inside and out are present. I know the steering and suspension will be redone but as long as there's no welding or body work to do, it will be easier. Don't know what to do once the motor comes out, probably take the heads in for resurfacing and rebuild them. Doesn't seem to be too difficult a job. Now the block, that's another story. No idea what to do about that. Open to ideas. Thanks for the help folks
  14. I have no idea. The door panel is off one of the front door and there is an electric motor sitting on the bottom of the door inside, so I'm gonna say electric.
  15. I probably won't be going back to the car until my respirator mask arrives. Kinda freaking out about shopvaccing all the rodent crap outta the car. Been reading about hantavirus and catching it by doing just what I did. Had old cheap dust mask and work gloves and vacuumed. Should have sprayed with disinfectant and picked up with paper towels. Should've worn rubber gloves and goggles. Got Dr appointment today to talk to him about probability of catching it and what to do. Shaking now just thinking about it.
  16. I found bolts going from under the car into the thing the seat slides on but when I went under the car, there was a like box piece of floor pan covering where the bolt would be. And it's a permanent piece of floor, not removable.
  17. And available at auto parts stores?
  18. That pic was supposed to be showing the ac part in the trunk, but I guess there are surprises for everyone
  19. Very good. That's a Mexican oil can probably from the 60s. Don't have a clue why an Arizona car would have tire chains either
  20. But there is a speaker in the center over the unit. I figured it was after market since there is no ducts in the ceiling. I guess it's still worth trying to get working. Still unique. The controls are hooked up to the compressor, that's how I knew they are the controls. Still trying to figure out whats what in the car. Any idea how to remove the power front seat?
