  1. Thanks. I will have to look into getting some of the service bulletins if they, or copies of them, are available. I had a whole three ring binder of them for my '38 Chevy and I always found them helpful. I did get a copy of the '41 Buick Shop Manual and have gotten quite a bit of info out of it. Also, several tips provided as a result of a couple of my posting have been very helpful. My car had white LED bulbs for tail/stop lights and turn signals and someone recommended using red bulbs. I bought some of those and put them in and what a difference. You can actually see them in the daylight.
  2. Do you think someone made this or is it an actual part of the license plate bracket? No one else seems to have this piece. After I posted this, I noticed on ebay there is a bracket for sale with an OK license plate. There is a hole for the bolt for this part but it doesn't have the part itself so I imagine yours is an original part. Here is a link to an ebay store that shows a complete bracket and the piece over the top is not separate but part of a longer piece. That longer piece is on by bracket but the loop is missing. http://www.classicnosparts.com/product/1938-1939-1940-1941-1942-buick-rear-license-light-lamp-license-plate-holder-plate-nos-rare/
  3. Thanks, Grandpa. Since I haven't found an original piece, I was thinking of making something myself and this gives me some ideas.
  4. Actually all I need is the part that slides up and down and fits over the top of the plate. If you have a raggedy plate holder but this part is good, I could use it. Thanks.
  5. Looking for a rear license plate holder for my '41 Buick Special. Mine has the adjustable part that is supposed to fit to the top of the plate but the loop that goes over the plate has been broken off so there is no support for the top of the plate. I checked ebay but couldn't find one there. I thought perhaps someone in the BCA has a spare they would sell me. Thanks.

  7. Roadmaster 71, I checked my owners manual yesterday and yes, I have the one with the jack notation to read page 60. It is the Fourth Edition. Did Buick ever acknowledge the problem with that jack? Just curious. Stuart
  8. Roadmaster 71, Do you repair car radios? Mine isn't working and eventually I will remove it to have it fixed when I find someone who can fix it. I had a guy in the Chevrolet club fix a radio for me but it didn't work when I got it back so I want to stay away from him. Thanks. Stuart
  9. Matt, Thanks a lot. You have answered a lot of questions. Stuart
  10. I am trying to learn about my "new" Buick so I will have questions from time-to-time and I appreciate all the help I have received so far. As my familiarity with this site increases, I hope to get those questions where they belong. In the mean time, please bear with me. In the Owner's Manual of my car, someone wrote to be sure and check the jack instructions. I did and saw a jack I am not at all familiar with nor can I find anything out about it on the web. The jack appears to hook directly under the top of the rim on the outside of the wheel for jacking with another piece put behind the wheel when the car is jacked up. What is the deal with that jack? The jack in my car is a regular bumper jack. Is it O.K. to use that jack? Again, thanks for all the help.
  11. This is my first Buidk. It is pretty much all original with 81K miles. Even at 82 and after having owned about 90 vehicles, I was excited to find it as I have been looking for this model since I sold my 1938 Chevy before moving south in 2019. The back seat looks as though no one has ever been back there. Except for the small amount of visible paint on the front bumper, the chrome is excellent - no pits. Best of all, it does not drip any oil on the garage floor! I have lots of questions and you will see them in this forum as I get to them. Thanks for all the help you have given me re the turn signal bulbs, and to the person who told me how to get my photo on here. Stuart 1941 Buick Special (I believe a 44S)
  12. Thanks for all the help. It is a wealth of information for me. As I said, I am new to this site and once I figure out how to do it, I will post a picture of my car. I still get very frustrated trying to figure out how to get where I want to go and then solve the problem of getting there. BCA doesn't want anything to do with forums as they belong to AACA. AACA has not responded to my request for help on how to navigate the forums. I guess I will work it out over time.
  13. New to this Forum as I recently purchased a 1941 Buick. Has anyone replaced the regular bulbs in their tail/stop lights and turn signals with LED bulbs? I understand the regular flasher needs to be replaced with an LED compatible flasher. Is this correct? Any other info on this topic will be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. New to this Forum as I recently acquired a 1941 Buick. Has anyone had experience putting LED bulbs in the tail/stop lights and turn signals? I understand you need to have an electronic flasher to make them work right. Is this correct. Any info on this topic will be appreciated.
