  1. No I didn't do a compression test. I should have when I was putting all new plugs in. May take the time one day to check it in all cylinders
  2. Well gentlemen I am sorry I failed to get back to everyone about my Plymouth starting problem.I drained the old gas and rebuilt the carburetor. What I found was the Pump jet was clogged. When I worked the throttle of carburetor on work bench virtually no gas was coming through. Took the rivet plug out and removed the jet and thourghly cleaned. Rechecked with gas in the carb before I put back on car and now it works fine. Let car sit for a few days and get in and it fires right up. Thanks for everyones input.
  3. OK, Thanks. I do have a Motors repair manual
  4. I have taken the carburator off and it doesn"t look bad but I have ordered a carb rebuilding kit that should be here in a few days. I am also going to drain the tank and start with all fresh Non ethanol gas. May not get it back together before the holidays but will give a update how I made out. Proably after the holidays. Thanks
  5. You are right there. I will start using gas instead until i get it figured out. Hopefully by the weekend
  6. Thanks for all the input. I will let everyone know how I make out with it.
  7. My 51 Plymouth recently will only start with a small amount of ether sprayed in carb. It will start fine for the rest of the day but if I let the car sit for a day or two without starting it won't start on it's own without another shot of ether. Once it starts it runs great. Thinking I should take carb off and rebuild. Any suggestions appreciated
  8. With my 51 Plymouth as someone has said. I will pump the peddle at least 10 or more times and then crank it over. If it doesn't start I repeat with about 10 more pumps and crank it over. I have same issue if it sits for a couple of weeks without starting. If it's started every couple of days it starts right up on 1st crank
  9. Have been looking for what Monroe shocks will fit the front of my 51 Plymouth Cranbrook. I have seen different #66608.....5752....and 37187. Does anyone know what shock will work ? Thank You Bob
  10. Thanks Terry and Rusty. I think I will disassemble the eccentric bushing where you make the adjustment and check to see if it is bad. At least I will be able to eliminate if that is the cause or not. The upper control arm shaft and pin and bushing package. This may be why I can make the adjustment with wheel off but as soon as tire is put on and lowered to ground it moves right back to negative camber. Will let you know what I find when I have the time to get back out to garage and work on it again. Thank again
  11. Long time AACA member. My Plymouth all of a sudden has a lot of tire ware on the left front tire inside. Have tried to adjust the camber by turning the essentric bushing both ways and it does not seem to make any difference at all. It appears to be rotating as it should but the caster angle stays between 3 and 4 deg negative. Can not get it to o or posative . Any advice greatly appreciated. Car has been showed for the last 30 years without any issue of uneven tire ware.
