  1. I did the replacement with a variable speed knob. it worked fine up until recently
  2. Hey folks I installed an electric wiper motor two years ago. Everything worked great until it didn't. My wipers do operate with full range of motion that they should operate with. They don't go all the way down or all the way up. The range they do move is from the middle of what the range is and then about 2 inches up and down from that. wiper motor runs and sounds normal. any tips I will attach a link to a youtube video https://youtube.com/shorts/A7ohW1kCYcg?si=wOKda1-skd4FrD0n this is the wiper motor I have https://newportwipers.com/product/1955-56-buick-special-century/#wiper-motor

  4. I most certainly am. I am not very tech savvy I will try to find your post. Will it fit and work in a 55 special and does it have the odometer as well
  5. Hello my fellow enthusiasts. My Buick is coming along great. It was recommended to change to an electronic ignition system. Any leads on the parts I would need for this. I am doing research but always appreciate the help from this knowledgeable group. it's a 1955 Buick Special
  6. I know the post is old any chance you would still have them? Would the red liner fit on a 55 special? Is it the speedometer/odometer combo? Thanks
  7. I only uses the car in warm weather. How do I go about bypassing this ?
  8. sorry for the delayed response. it is a 55 buick special I can't seem to find the spot it goes into on the manifold. my understanding is the pipe goes in one side and comes out the other. I can't find either hole. There is what feels like a back plate on the back side of the manifold. I thought I read something about that being one of the hole locations for the heat pipe.
  9. Yes I agree I want to change them to steel lines front to back. I'm a little concerned that it isn't the right carb on my car. seems to be making it difficult to get the right parts. Question I'm having difficulty finding the two spots on the manifold where the pipe goes in and comes out the other side. also does the heat wrap go into the Manifold as well?
  10. first off thanks for all the info. secondly there are to lines here one that is cut and the second one runs up to that tube that is attached to nothing in the other pics ( I think it's the old vacuume hose for the wipers) I also have an electric fuel pump. thanks again
  11. Hey glad it is running well. Mine is doing the same thing as yours. When it starts it's making a very airy or windy sound and then when it stalls when I release the gas there is this wind sucking sound and then it stops. Any tips would be great.
  12. Hi there. I am struggling. I have 1955 buick special that I installed a new choke cover and spring. The car was running well for a few days. I drove it about 100 miles or so and then it puttered out. I managed to limp home with it. My first question is about choke adjustment First off previous owner pinched off the line that runs from choke to manifold. Car is not run in cold weather so I am wondering if this impacts anything? Secondly there are no markings on the choke cover to mark the correct setting, so how do I determine the correct setting.? I am also assuming since the choke cover is supposed to come with a gasket that it is then meant to be tightened full so the cover does not move, is this correct.? when I do get it to start it sounds airy like a wind sound. more wind than motor growl. but when I slightly push the accelerator from under the hood it sounds a bit better but as soon as I release accelerator and it returns to idle speed it stalls out. Do I adjust the timing ? Not sure if that is in my skill set or not.. Finally Oil pressure. When driving oil pressure goes to High on the guage and Stays there. what should I check to troubleshoot as I think it should be in the normal range when driving As always thanks to my fellow Buick enthusiasts for helping out Jason and Laure aka Blue beard and rainbow 🌈 bright 🌞
  13. Hey there did you end up taking the oil pan off? If so was it very complicated? I am fellow 55 special owner
  14. Hey folks me again. So unordered the wrong carburetor choke cap. Can someone confirm if this carburetor is a stromberg or a carter. Also any leads on a carburetor choke cap for this model thanks
  15. Thanks for the info I will look into it and make sure it connects
  16. Hey Joe it's a 55 buick special wcd 2 barrel Carb. Yes your correct I scrapped the Edelbrock idea almost immediately after making the post
  17. Hi folks long time reader first time poster (I think) I have a few questions regarding parts of the carburetor The climatic control (automatic Choke) is broke as seen in picture. Where can I find a replacement. Also might consider going to Edlebrock carb and adaptor plate or new intake manifold. thoughts? Secondly to the right of the choke in the picture there is a metal what i think is a vacuum hose that is pinched or clamped off. What is this hose? Where does it go and what does it do? and finally should I rec0nnect it as the car was running fine without it. Again thanks to this awesome group of enthusiasts for helping me in my time of need
  18. we will absolutely post in me and my Buick thread. It has dyna flow automatic and my first time driving one was test driving this one. we are located in Ottawa Canada .still learning how to use this forum
  19. Hey everyone we are newbs. A few weeks back our Buick found us We made a wrong turn, passed by a dealership that was closing and the owner was liquidating his inventory. Long story short we bought her and named her Frida (Kahlo). I work in Youth Justice and my beautiful partner is an Artist and Teacher. We put a rebuilt radiator in her, changed the thermostat and thermostat housing cover is on order. She needs some interior work upholstery and one of the levers for the heat the knob broke off. We also found a 55 special rolling Chassis with operational motor and cowl and steering wheel and components. Got that parts car for 800 dollars. I suffer from PTSD due to my line of work and this car has given me a new outlook on life. We look forward to meeting people in this forum and any tip you folks have please share.
