Hi, Mick. I am the owner of a 28 Buick 115 inch Standard Country Club Coupe. Are you willing to sell some of the parts or only as a group at this point? Reason, I have some needs on specific engine parts but understand if you want them to go only as a group.
Thanks,

I have placed the shims on the mains and the rods.

I'll plastiguage it Wednesday. I have one concern. With the crank, cam, and all 6 pistons in place it seems to turnover harder than I would expect. I've not re-built one of these before but my first thought is it seems tight.
-
That is my mistake, Hugh. My car has always been the 115, (114 1/2) Wheelbase. Sorry about that and I'm not even sure why I put the 120 on it. It is a standard. Do you also place the brass shims for the main bearings?
-
Also, is there a torque wrench setting for the bolting of the crank and rod caps into place? I've heard not to over-tighten and simply do so until you can first set the cotter pins?
Thanks.

Thanks, Hugh. I have taken the engine apart, counted my six teeth from the keyway and here's how it appears. Crank and cam turn nice together and I believe I have a start on proper timing. Trusting my ability to count, appear correct to yourself?

This is great information, Hugh. Thanks as I did not have it. I purchased the car with the engine apart. I want to make sure I have the camshaft in correct position with the crankshaft. The crankshaft gear itself has a good stamping for aligning the two. However, the cam does not. Is there a printed proceedure for this, aligning the two with-out the proper mark?
Thanks,
Rod

Timing Chart for my car appears to be plate 33 from the original Shop Manual, first published in 1927 then amended in 1928. My re-print of this chart is un-readable. Basically too small of print and smeared. Does anyone have a copy of this plate for timing purposes or can point me to one saved on the Buick Club archives?
Thanks,

Thanks, Mark. Is that the inside diameter of my housing needed, 2 inches, or a bit less to accept the 2"? What would you charge for this arir cleaner.
Appreciate it,

Sounds good. It's here if we hear of another good Buick person looking for one.

I finally got to my steering column today. After checking out our two different years the stationary bracket from your car is smaller, by about 10%. Mounting screws, size of the bracket, etc.
I appreciate your trying to assist in my project. Would you like me to send the bracket back or keep it on hand for another 'needing it' builder?
Thanks, Steve.

Steve, the package arrived today. I'll be trying it out tomorrow. Again, Thanks, very nice of you to assist.

A few differences but appears close to the 28. How much are you asking? And thx for the photos!

Thank you both. You are correct and with your help, I'll get them correctly installed.

Old 26, did you happen to find this part and get a photo?
Thanks, Rod

Thanks, this helps a lot, Stuart. I see that wooden piece now.

A photo would be great. I see mine has a different part number. Thanks for doing this.

I've been re-assembling a 1928 Standard Country Club Coupe. The car was dis-assembled by the previous owner. I have the rumble seat in and swings open/shut great. However, I have no stops or really know what Buick did for these. Anyone know what and how the stops are installed? This if for when the seat is open and being used by a passenger.
Appreciate your in-put.

I do not know if they are the same. Thanks for looking! If you do have one we can compare measurements.

Interesting, looks like you did a good job. This is a good idea. Thanks, Kevin.

Good morning, Hugh. Thanks to the article you forwarded myself on crankshaft and cam gear timing I now have the engine lower half together. My next question, when I place the flywheel on the crank, cylinder one top dead center, it lines-up perfectly with the flywheel marking "1-6" in the inspection hole. It does not line-up with the marking "Adv. 17" as per your article. Does this mean I have in-correctly set the cam/crank gears for timing?
Thanks,
Rod Miles
