Hey all. Got my new reproduction Jenkins front floor mat in my 39 Spec. Please see photo. Is the firewall pad supposed to overlap the front top edge of floor mat? Is the floor mat supposed to fit right up to the bottom edge of the firewall pad? I'm guessing the floor mat is not supposed to just flop up over bottom edge of firewall pad as in my photo? This thing is thick! Hope it 'relaxes' a bit with heat & use. Would be great if someone has an original they can check and provide me with some guidance/info.

Just a discovery when parting a 40 Super 4dr. Found the rear vent window assy to be interchangable as such: pass rear fits driver front, driver rear fits pass front. Helpful if your driver's vent regulator is heavily worn from use or just broken. Chances are, almost never used rears are nice cond. All Super/Rdmstr except converts.

Two '53 Buicks one is 2dr ht with nailhead V8 also a 1939 2dr sedan longtime field cars or junkyard orphans moved onto fresh crush rock area. Auto parts then put buick in search.

Look under auto parts search buick. 2-'53s 2drs(ones a nailhead, so Super/Rd ht)& a 1939 2dr sedan look like junkyard or longtime 'field cars"

The kid was kinda nervous when Dad asked "How's the car running?" The kid answered,"Not too well, I think it's got water in the carb" Dad, "Where is it?" kid, "Out back, in the pool!"

It’s manual, I watched Mud’s video before making the post because I’d have to pay someone to blast it clean, then send it off for the sleeve, then rebuild kit, by the time I’ve paid for all that.....
but it appears there’s no choice in the matter
The Brl&eqop wharehouse folks took my nasty mstr cyl & blasted & cleaned and sleeved and installed a new kit and handed it to me in a clear plastic bag 168.00 looked better than new !

They are a few miles from me and have sleeved with stainless steel and installed kits in three master cylinders for different cars of mine. Impressive, they turn out looking better than new! Highly recommend them! Good luck.

G'day fellow '39ers.
I bought my 3.9 diff centre off a bloke that had Hot Rodded his '39 Century.
Sent him a message asking what did he do with the rear end.
Got it cheap.
You see a Hot Rodded '39, ask the question. You never know.
Danny
Good for you Danny! You can start a new post and we would love to hear more! Glad my deal with Kev is coming together cuz Kev and many others would like a much more rare optional '39 only 3.6 Century rear and they would not want to wait the time it would take to maybe find another as cheap(if ever) as you probably got your 3.9, but again Thanx for your input...........

Hey Kev Back at it again. Kinda hot for an old guy, but cooler than it's been. Got a wood pallet that's a bit better ft than first one. Pulling one aprt to stretch this second one. Man, someone was went wild with the air nailer with cement coated nails! Sending some photos of pallets so ya won't think I'm just goofin' off. Thought U might want 2 C the NOS TORQUE ball also.

Haha! A shared sense of humor! Yes, even switching to the Roadmaster backing plates and drums on the shelves all this long time ain't gonna turn my Supers into competitive racers against today's high tech rides! I'm thinking they will need converting to hydrogen fuel if they are to have a chance at remaining internal combustion rigs in the not to distant future! I think they are pretty enuff to the general public not to suffer a forced trip to the scrapyard anyway. A local guy put a hydrogen cell on our Toyota Sienna van we owned a while back, brought the mpg up by half again as much. Froze in the winter tho. Just couldn't drain it all the way dry in time. Phun experiment tho. Hindenburg be damned. See what happens when yer old and can't sleep! Ya ramble on sometimes. I need a little more time. I've got a couple nice Mikuni-Solex side drafts I'd like to try out on the 263 I'm putting in the 40 Super cpe. Two small turbos spooling up quick with um would add to the phun. Oh well, good nite all.

Hey Rod what's it approx location, city, state, country? I'm in MN 55327 close to Mpls. Unfortunately I didn't see the service bulletin about the upgrade to oil pumps that Buick did till after I saved oil pumps from engine teardowns for parts, so I hafta find out difference and how to ID the different years. I think deeper/taller gears for more flow?

Suggest inspecting the existing torque ball when the rear end is changed out for the 3.6/1. Only definitive way to check condition is to visually inspect. No pressure on purchase just letting you know it's available as replacement or spare.

Back from John Deere dealership with whopper of a pallet to cut down to strap 39 rear end assy for shipping. Have to cut it down in size a bit.

Sorry, I should have included that detail. The ones I have are on a 1940 Series 40 Special. It's a model 41 4 door sedan. The Super and Special are on the same chasis correct? Don't know if the splash pans are different between the two. Same motor.
Yes, Super and Special, same length, very different cars in many ways. Supers don't have running boards and the body is wider(3 seat in front more easily.) Same response,Spec&Super splash guard pans are different, believe me when I say I was hoping they would be same, finding nice ones for my Super is proving a challenge!

What model is your car? The splash pans are year and model specific and for instance Specials would be shorter than Century and no 1940 do not fit '39 or '41. I would be interested if your 1940 is a Super. Thanx for posting so folks know they are available!

I have two 1940 Supers with 4.40 rear gears, which first is the question!

Thought I'd better add photo b4 spraying, as spray can appear as orange tint possibly mistaken for surface rust,NOT!This what I use to preserve 'bare' gears that won't have lube for a trip to UK. 2nd pic ready to strap to pallet.

NORS FRONT MAT '39-40

I did not know that brown was the only 39 color. I bought black cuz it's color neutral not thinking about Buick only doing one color, brown, that year. The folks who redid this car just glued in some carpeting removed from Mom's 70's living room, so I shoulda researched more about it. Dang! Shoot, aim, load! Wait? Hmmm....wonder who loved the color brown so danged much at Buick? Well, that might change things! Sucafeca";+'#! Or words to that effect! Jenkins restoration in Carolina is now being operated by the son of Louis Jenkins, who has passed.
