Jim,
Do the '65 bulletins include the clamshell adjusting/maintenance instructions?
I picked up one of these last month.

This site ought to help a lot: http://www.tpocr.com/buickbp3.html
STYLE: 63-4747 = 1963 Model Year 2-Door Sports Coupe
BODY: FB33308 = a body number assigned by Fisher
TRIM: 737 J2 = Sandlewood, the J2 escapes me but may be a notation for an accessory: if so 4-Way Tilt Power Seat (but should be?? listed as an Accessory with the others)
PAINT: TT = Fawn Mist. The first T is the color of the top; the second is the body color
ACC:
D - Sonomatic Radio
S7 - Remote Control Outside Mirror
I6 - Soft-Ray Tinted Glass
N2 - Air Conditioning
U7 - Power Windows

According to this website: The Gran Sport option (A-9) listed for $306.38 and included the 360 hp Super Wildcat dual 4 bbl engine, modified exhaust and transmission, positive traction differential with a 3.42 rear axle, ornamentation and wheel covers. A separate Ride and Handling package (H-2) with 15-1 steering ratio and heavy-duty suspension was available for an additional $37.63.
So my question is how does one identify if a particular 1965 Riviera Gran Sport does or does not have the H2 package?? And could any of these features by added by an owner over time?

Thanks Ed,
I'm in Colorado Springs. Connecticut is just a UPS Store away.
I'll reach out to Tom Telesco -- maybe he'll see this posting . . .

I strongly suspect (hope) no-one else encounters this problem, but just in case . . .
I had a hard starting problem on my 1965 Riviera Gran Sport. One time in four, the car would fire right up when cold. But when it wouldn't there was only one solution: dribble some gas down the carb. It would crank a moment until enough gas mixed with air and fired up. I suspected the accelerator pump and/or a mis-adjusted or non-functioning choke, so I ordered a pair of carb rebuild kits.
Upon rebuild of the front carb, the issue became immediately obvious:
The accelerator pump on the left is the replacement from the kit -- complete with protective cardboard shipping collar.
The accelerator pump on the right is the one removed from the carb -- complete with protective cardboard shipping collar.
Hmmm.
This is what the two pumps looked like:'
Overall, the carbs were in very good condition and, based on their overall cleanliness, had apparently been recently rebuilt.
I think to make the carbs just a touch better I may need to replace the butterfly shafts or the seals on them.
Any recommendations for a quality shop that does that type of work??
As usual, TIA

Well -- I was going to post 4 photos (two from inside the engine compartment and two peering between the LF tire and the wheel opening. These photos would have shown the absence of my access panel. No need.
So -- since Buick played hide-the-wiper-motor, can I assume they were equally as sneaky with all the vacuum lines exiting the fire wall at top center? I noticed what I thought was a disconnected vacuum line and reach in to re-attach it. Turns out it was broken off and in probing the bundle of vacuum lines another one snapped like crystal. I now have two open vacuum lines and what appears to be a molded black fitting in/on/through the firewall.
Can someone please explain what the black thing is and how I reattach the 2(soon to be 6 or 7) vacuum lines to/through it. I recently purchase 50' of vacuum line -- it my not be enough.

It's really strange you don't have the access panel.
Maybe I am not looking in the right place -- where is the access panel??

OK guys -- who was the comedian that placed the wiper motor on the firewall, under the rear corner of the fender and tucked in behind behind the driver's hood hinge?
My wipers are so slow (how slow are they?) -- they are so slow that I truly thought the 65's came with vacuum activators wiper motors. I now know my 65 has dual speed electric wipers. Not only that, the windshield washer does not function -- the push button on the dash seems frozen. I was simply going to pull the wiper motor, clean up the inside of it (assuming the mechanism is clogged with 50 year old, hardened grease) , and check out the problem with the washer pump. That is -- until I discovered where Buick mounted it. What is the secret incantation to even see it?
The service manual diagram shows an access panel that does not appear to exist on my car. I have an early Riviera -- sequential build number on VIN of 909071 with a build date in the first week of December.
Can I get to the wiper motor by pulling the inner fender and left front tire? or do I need to pull off the fender?
TIA

Got it to open.

Of all things -- I am having trouble finding the fuse box on my 65 Riviera Gran Sport. I know it's under the driver side dash. But where?
I have attached 2 photos - so let's educate the rookie:
Photo 1: I was expecting to find it here. But those 2 ribbon tapes don't lead to it. They lead to the place on the fire wall where wiring harnesses connect on either side of the fire wall. I tried removing/opening the lid/cover that is just above the vent pull. I removed the 2 Phillips head screws but was unsuccessful in removing the lid. Is this where fuse box is? What is the trick to opening this (fiberglass?) cover?
Photos 2 shows more of what I expected to be the fuse box. Is that cylinder/can the flasher unit for the directionals?
As usual -- TIA: Craig

Thanks all for the warm welcome and quick replies.
Another question: I am considering picking up some spares. They include a pair of carbs: one is 3646s ak3 and the other s is 3645s aj3. As I understand the numbers, these are both for a 1963. Despite the 2 year disparity, would these carbs work on a 65 Riviera Gran Sport? (I know they would be "wrong"). As stated previously, the long term plan is install my LX in my car with my carbs, then sell 401. I figure it'd be easier to sell with more bits and parts attached.
PS -- I just learned I have a relatively early 65 -- small emblems

Rivnut -- it took a little searching and sifting but I found the answer(s). Thanx.
Now -- anyone know the casting number on the intake manifold? Is it 1370316B??

I recently purchased a 1965 Riviera Gran Sport (yup, has a BS tag on the tranny) and am still learning the details of the car, engine and such. The car came with a 401 CID (I know -- not correct) but with 2x 4-bbl Carters mounted on it. The original engine is long gone but the purchase came with a 425 short block (yes -- LX).
So the carbs on the 401 have the following numbers stamped into the lower left front corner of the carb body: FRONT CARB is 3645 SB and REAR CARB is 3925 SA.
Are these correct?
Craig
PS - My long term plan is to transplant the 425 and put the 401 on the engine stand

That was a surprisingly quick turn-around time.
What was it -- about a week from order to delivery??
