  1. hi knut I thought by switching the trannys it might of had something to do with the rear main seal dripping. I changed seals twice so far and going to try a third time. old tank sent me a way to do it and sez he never had a problem again with his. so I'm going to give it a shot. reason why I'm switching transmissions because out where I am there is nobody with enough experience to rebuild mine so I took it out already and hoping to install this 56 I got with my cousin here in New York. trying to find guys that know how to rebuild these transmissions are a dying breed unfortunately and if you do they bang you over the head with the cost and there's no guarantee it will be done right. not going to take that chance. as far as that part you need the power window mechanism that I don't have. my 55 has no power anything. you might want to try the GTO GURU IN OKLAHOMA. he seems to have everything like that for buicks.

  2. if anyone out there needs any parts for a 55 Buick 2 door hardtop century model let me know. I have some very nice and clean extra parts that I want to sell. contact me and I can let you know what I have. just a few things off top of my head that I have is, 4 original powder coated Buick rims that look brand new, have some nice moldings, front bumper and some parts etc...

  3. mr earl the gentleman said that from 53-56 the trannies were the same and that he has swapped out a 55 tranny for a 56 and the car ran great and he never changed the rear end. now I'm getting confused. maybe find the same tranny for my 55 century but thanks for your input. appreciate it.

  4. does anyone know if you can swap out a 55 Buick dynaflow for a 56 dynaflow ? having some issues with mine and I found a 56 Buick dynaflow never installed in Michigan. the guy tells me this 56 will work in my 55. does anyone know for sure before I take a chance to get it ?  mine is a 55 century and the tranny he has is for a 56 special. he said it will work.

  5. restoring my 55 Buick century and almost finished but I have one problem with the rear main seal. started to leak so I took out the old one and possibly the original one and replaced it with a N.O.S. rope seal. naturally after a few days it started to leak again, so I bought a neoprene rear main seal and tried that. unfortunately it didn't last either and it started to leak again. now I have a modern graph tite rope seal and hoping this one will work. can't figure out why its leaking. any help out there with a suggestion ? thanks.

  6. does anyone know how long the jack retaining spring is for the hold down of spare and all is ? found someone out west who has quite a few of them but he sez mostly for 60s cars but the ones he has are different lengths and that some might fit my 55. any idea's would be appreciated.

  7. hey kosage how have you been ? was wondering where your at with your Buick ? the work you put in was incredible so far. thought mine would have been done earlier this year but I'm still doing some odd and ends on it. started replacing some of the body mount bushings then to do new springs and shocks all way round and hopefully the car will be more stable when going over some rough road and bumps and stuff. I put in a heavier front sway bar that old tank told me about. it works great and you can get them from brads bars in Georgia. its a great product. hope to hear back from you. thanks.

  9. well people out there it happened again. bought another spotlight on eBay and the seller said it was N.O.S. and it will definitely work on my 55 Buick. anybody care to guess ?  DID NOT EVEN COME CLOSE ! yes it was n.o.s. with paper work and template but it was for later model cars of the 80's and 90's !  think I'm just going to forget about putting a spotlight on because its costing me a small fortune to keep shipping them back to the sellers.

  10. thanks for the info 37ROADMASTER. I just purchased a n.o.s. unity spotlight on eBay and it comes with all paper work and brackets, etc.. the seller said it will definitely work on my 55 century. if not I'll just return it and take your advice and do it the way you mentioned. hopefully this one will work out. fingers crossed.

  11. thanks ntx5467. just bought a unity spotlight H1 on eBay and guy swears it will fit the 55 Buick century. it was N.O.S. with all paper work and template. keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have to return this one.

  12. does anyone out there know where I can find the right spotlight for my 55 Buick century ? can't tell you how many I sent back because they were the wrong one's. has to be for the Buick century. eBay has ton's of them but sellers are not sure which buicks they go on.
