"Octane" is a hydrocarbon, C8H18. "Octane rating" or "octane number" is a property of a gasoline blend, related to how octane itself performs.

The more angular and stylized form is typical of post-war more than prewar.

some dimensions would help. I think 1940 was the last year for an optional external trunk rack.

That is a cool 70s interior ! Almost as cool as the 75 Cadillac Monticello interior I am looking for .

1956 Golden Hawks used the Packard Clipper 352. Normally aspirated, one carb. The 1956 Caribbean had a 374 dual quad. Now I wouldn't be surprised if someone worked a 1955 or 1956 Caribbean dual quad set up onto a Hawk, but not factory. The blower was used when they went to the smaller Studebaker V8 the next year.

I think this one left the factory as monotone. A second piece of lower stainless was added to separate the leading edge of the insert on two-tone cars.

That is something I've never understood, comes from having no burning desire to drive Vintage cars. If a vehicle gets you from A to B in comfort it has done its job. Looking great parked at the curb, front of your house or in the garage are the selling points to me. Cars are parked for 95+% of their lifetime.

So a design with good looks but so-so performance suits you. in our time frame you sound like you should check out the Cord L29. Different emphases for different people, no problem with that.

Just love ads where "upgraded" is used as a synonym for "hacked."

John, as a 1948 I think it qualifies as a full Classic?

The correct shadow cloth seats and fore and aft headliner seams are a big deal. This is a very fine car. Strange to put it on E-Bay.

I'm familiar with the film, and some of the spots in it are recognizable, but this is the first time I've seen the route on a map.
Might be interesting to walk up to a Paris car rental counter with the map in hand. "Yes, I'll take the insurance."

I would argue that the "Jelly Bean" shape of the original Taurus forever ( at least for 30+ years) changed car design.
The Taurus owed a lot to the 1982 Audi 5000 design.

The challenge has been having one that can run at higher speeds (and not flat spot when parked). Don't expect these to be cheap.

1976 Model year was the starting point for the rectangular lights. Manufacturers knew they were in the works around 1973 - 74.
quite a few switched for the 1975 model year

The concept has been worked on for years, and not just by Bridgestone. The military was interested for obvious reasons. It's quite difficult to come up with a material with the right hysteresis. Heat build up from the flexing is another issue.

The interior is to a highstandard but I'm not sure it's authentic in pattern. The hood has been "shaved" - script and hood ornament removed and holes filled.
