The man in front was my great aunt's husband. He was an engineer that had his own company that made ventilation fans for department stores before modern HVAC systems. Question: do the wings on the radiator cap indicate the model year?

I'm fairly sure this is a LaSalle, perhaps 1929 or 1930. Can anyone tell from this picture what year it is? Also, are the headlights stock? They seem large.
