Bird dog,   for starters,     I need to know whether you have an Autolite or Bosch system on the car.   Autolite bought Bosch in the mid part of 1926 so some cars are Autolite and some where Bosch.

This point set came two different ways.  (1) as an assembled unit or (2) as two pieces.   Don't know which one you have but it appears the fiber bushing has moved in the point arm, allowing the arm to slip down.   I would take the unit out and see where the bushing rides and adjust if necessary.

Read what Stude Light just wrote.   The Pertronix units are unpredictable at best on older cars.   I probably receive 2 calls per month from people that installed a unit and can't make it work.   They are frustrated and are switching back to the original points etc

Absolutely not the IGB1240, but rather a IGB 1031.    IGB 1240 has the hold down tabs protruding.    IGB 1031 does not have the protruding tabs.
