  1. The transmission on my 1960 Buick Invicta has a small leak. Do I have to dismantle and rebuild the tranny at like $1500-$1800 to fix a seal, or is there anything to be done? How about Transmission additives? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you. BTW, the tranny works great, really didn't want to plunk down a pile of money to fix something that is not broken, even if it is leaking.
  2. Anyone know a reliable source? I am looking for a 2-speed wiper motor for a 1960 Buick Invicta. Other GM models of the same year might work, too. Thank you for your consideration.
  3. Hi, I need a wiper motor for a 1960 Buick Invicta. Anyone?
  4. Need two-speed wiper motor for 1960 Buick Invicta. Posted this before, got a reply from a "John Wick" aka John Howard from Elizabeth, NJ who twice said he had the part, asked for my phone number, but never heard from him. Hopefully, not spam or scam. Does anyone know Mr. Wick/Howard? Thank you for your consideration.
  5. I don't know if this is private or not, but yes, I would like the number to this yard. Thank you.

  7. I agree, these cars are meant too be driven. I don't believe in garage ornaments, even if I had a garage. Most everyone couldn't believe this was my only car, my daily ride, but I've just reached a stage where I don't just want to be practical. I wanted something before '64 forever and I just went out a got one. Just wish parts were more available. I understand what you mean by getting to a point where the car needs nothing. Just drive the damn thing. I had an old Harley like that once. It was one thing after another, was always working on it and/or depositing my paychecks with the bike shop. Eventually, all the bugaboos were exorcised and the thing ran great for the last year I owned it. Thing was, I had already lost confidence in the bike not leaving me stranded somewhere and facing another big towing/repair bill. Anyway, still searching for a wiper motor...
  8. Hi Bob, and thank you for responding to my query. The installed wiper motor does not work and would to replace it with one that does, rebuilt or salvaged. My mechanic says he has a guy who rebuilds them, but that's around $300-$350 just for the rebuild and will lay the car up for a week or more. I am more interested in making the Invicta a reliable daily driver, one I can take anywhere with confidence. Repop parts are okay or salvage if they've been tested. Right now, motor and tranny are good. Wiper and horn don't work. Was able to pop the horn pad off and found a broken wire. Not sure if I should splice it back together or not. Other issues include rainwater getting into the car, soaking the floor in left and right front corners. Wing window is likely culprit but it seems too wet to be just a trickle getting past the split rubber. Dash is dim, clock, cigarette lighter and radio and/or speakers don't work. Even in SoCal it rains so a daily driver with no wipers is inconvenient to put it mildly. It's been pouring for three days here. The steering gearbox works okay but is on its last adjustment and will need to be replaced or rebuilt as some point in the future. BTW, what do you use for a gas treatment? I run premium and add an ounce or two of Lucas with each tank. Looking forward to speaking with you. Thanks, Joshua
  9. Hi Chris, thanks for the information. Sounds like you did a lot to your '60, especially for a car with only 33k. Even back in the day that wasn't really a lot of miles. I haven't had much luck on eBay, although I did see some horn pads. These cars have a style and class we may never see again, but they are certainly a labor of love, and money.
  10. Thank you, Lump, much appreciated. I'll check out CARS. Joshua
  11. Thank you, much appreciated. You mentioned the headlight switch can be bought new? From where? So the headlight switch boosted the dash brightness? Fascinating. I see you also have a '60 Electra 4-door. I think there wasn't much difference between the Invicta and the Electra. Where are you getting parts for the Electra? Regards, Joshua
  12. Hi, does anyone have or know where I can buy a wiper motor for a 1960 Buick Invicta? Also need a horn pad, window weather stripping, and less urgently, steering gearbox, radiator core, cigarette lighter, clock. Also, the dash light is rather dim, even at a full turn. Is this normal or is there a bulb need replacing?
