  1. Thanks for the feedback. I purchased the glass through Auto City Classics and they have been more than helpful with finding me the correct size/glue in '63 glass, no bolt holes and a smaller size. The color? Well, I think I will have to live with the "green" tint unless I find a flawless set of used ones. The green or clear glass are the only options out on the market, so it was my decision to try the green glass thinking it was the same as my stock glass. I would rather have the flawless new glass with no scratches. Tom: I will try to get better pics showing the color difference, but again, it is a noticeable difference. Thanks again for all your feedback.
  2. pic of data plate, and the two different windows. Green on left with bolt holes, blue on right no bolt holes. Trust me, when you see them in person they are different colors. Thanks
  3. In the process of restoring/reconstructing my 63 Riv, I all ordered new glass. The car came with "blue/green" tinted windows and I wanted to match that look. So I ordered then glass, finding the only options seem to be "clear" or "green" glass, I ordered the "green" glass. When we went to install the door glass it became obvious the factory glass is much more "blue" than the replacement "green" glass. Also, another issue I ran into was the replacement door glass has 4 bolt holes in it, mine is slide in place, and is 1/2" taller than my stock glass. Apparently this design change took place mid year 63? Has anyone run across this difference in the glass color? And has anyone found a source for the "blue-green" glass like the car came with. Personally I think the stock "blue/green" glass is much nicer looking than the "green"glass. Thanks! Scott

  7. Great pics, just what I needed. Color looks similar to what was used on the gille also. Thank you!
  8. Looks great! that may be an option. Thanks!
  9. Question: on the front turn signal bezels are the fins left raw material color behind the front chrome edge? Or are they painted, gray or black to create a "shadow" look? Anyone have an original set that may be able to pass on what they are supposed to look like? Thanks!
  10. After another look at the early 63 pics, I concur. The panels are just painted. This is just one of a million little things flying in and out of my head during this project. I know this is a sidetrack, but another little issue popped up while installing the "Crate LSA" in the 63: The oil pan was too low, hung down below the new IFS crossmember- ordered Holley replacement that cured that one. The LSA Supercharger box was too high for hood clearance. Moved engine location up and down, but in the end ended up ordering a new Magnuson Heartbeat Supercharger that is designed for Corvette's lower hood clearance. The old saying holds true: you can solve any problem with momoney. Things are moving along on the car, waiting for the next problem to jump up.
  11. Thanks for all the good feedback. I didn't know the early 63's had smooth trim facing. Peeling the trim off can be a little touchy, glue causes problems. At the risk of being attacked and pummeled.... has anyone thought of this: Have the trim duplicated on vinyl graphic sheets....? To appear identical but easier to deal with? Or employ a really talented air-brush artist to replicate the look in paint...? Just a thought..... Thanks!
  12. Trim around Inst cluster as well as glove box.
  13. Trim has little scratches, little dents, curled edges. Generally looks crummy. This is so thin its hard to say how much work it will stand up to.
  14. What can be done to restore or replace the very thin aluminum trim panels that are on the face of the 63 Riv dashboards. Grooved aluminum that covers side to side including the glove box. Any ideas on restoring? Or has anyone replaced this material with something else? Hate to loose the look of the original dash, but this stuff is very fragile and seems very problematic to try to restore. What's the latest thinking on this stuff? Thanks!!
  15. Ray: sorry I am late getting back to you, but I see you contacted Auto City. Hopefully they will be in stock soon. Mike at Auto City has been great to deal with. Options like SS and Fuel injection flanges would be nice, perhaps they will accommodate. Fitz
  16. I recently purchased the very first 63-65 gas tank available through Auto City Classic's. I picked up the tank, compared to the original, slid it up into position and everything seems to be a good match. Tank looks great and should be a perfect replacement. Again: Auto City Classics, ask for Mike. Thanks Fitz
  17. Well my 63 Riv project is getting underway. One of many questions: are there any recommended vendors that do a correct restoration on the grill and headlight bezels? Is the grill mostly chrome plated then sprayed gray to leave the front edge chrome revealed. My Riviera is a 1963, 66,000 mile, Silver on Silver, 401 Dynaflow, 323 posi, turbine wheel covers, but no air. I purchased the car out of FLA last winter, but the car originated in WI. Long-long history of storage. Went in storage in 1971 and came out in 2015/2016. Owner belonged to the ROA. My plans are a complete resto of the car. This is going to include a complete change of suspension design and modern drivetrain. I will/do have a lot of parts coming off the car to sell. The engine/tranny/drive train ran great, it would be nice to see the complete drivetrain go to one party in need of it. I will have 5 wheels and new tires, and I think I have 7-8 turbine wheel covers in varying stages on condition. The entire heater control system will go, everything under the hood. Any thoughts on the grill resoration?
