Run without tubes if you can.
If your rims wont support that, then get radial tubes, and make sure there are no little stickers inside the tire. Grind them off if necessary.
what kind of stickers?

Hello
I am ready to put on a set of factory wire wheels on my Hudson and would like to run diamond back wide white radials
I obviously need to run tubes and from what I have been reading they don't recommend running tubes in a radial?
if so that hurts!! any ideas? -
Just curious if there's any benefit of replacing my B&B carburetors on my 38 desoto with a pair of wa1 carbs?I have a set that are brand new
The car is setup with an Edmunds dual carb intake.

Anybody put a disc brake conversion on your 38 DeSoto or something similar? If so was it worth the effort
-
sounds fun until you break down;-)
I drove a car home from the Carlisle swap meet and halfway home it starting to run erratic
I was able to limp it home
2nd purchase a few years later- 25 miles into the trip the ignition module crapped out
hence my hesitation -
Need to see a car in person before a purchase-too many wasted trips-thats why if you were closer I would be pursuing it
Went to Boston to look at a 59 caddy-not quite as described, just got back from Long Island looking at a Hudson convertible - same deal -
If this car was closer to New York I would certainly be chasing it man-oh-man I love it

Ok mechanical pump is on and works fine-
electric is on a toggle if the other ever fails
The only thing I think I need to do is put some kind of a tee so If I need the electric I can bypass the mechanical
thanks for all the help- 2

I use a $10 Chinese pump from ebay, I carry a spare in the trunk just in case, however it has out lasted the expensive Facet pump so far, Facet leaked after 12 months of use.
Silly question, is the pump facing in the right directly?
yup
going to put the mechanical on tomorrow with an electric backup on a toggle
-
The pump is by the tank

OK fellas another dilemma
When it rains it pours
I replaced the electric 12 volt pump on my 38 desoto with a universal carter because the pump was too loud
anyway, that pump lasted a day-so I put in another and that lasted the same-they are wired thru a relay-they have a filter on the inlet side of the pump-I also have a inline regulator installed-would running too low a pressure burn them out? I have it set on 2lbs
or is it a china thing? the tank is new and it plastic so its not rust jamming the pump
Thanks again for any insight

Pretty much sums it up to a problem with the shoes.
I need to pay attention to what I write
It didnt hold sorry
New cylinders going on tomorrow -
anyone?
-
That's exactly what I did and It held
1 hour ago, JACK M said:OK, so take the rear drums off, Take the shoes off, get a c-clap or similar and cover the pistons so that they cant pop out of the cylinders.
You might even cobble spacers of some kind so you are sure the pistons have a solid stop.
You will have to do both sides at the same time.
If this makes sense then you should be able to figure gist of what I am trying to explain.
held the pressure
-
my guess is wheel cylinders-I disconnect the line to the cylinders pedal is up top-I connect them pedal sinks
these are new cylinders-thoughts? -
the shoe goes directly into the cylinders-there are no pins-all new lines to the rear-plenty of fluid when I bleed the rears-

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder first? Sometimes, that is a must.
