Forgot to mention it in the earlier post, Hugh is correct there are three small ports in the valve cover to add oil to lubricate, lookin at your pic - I cant tell if you need a drivers side window crank, may have one

Have dealt with RJL in Penfield NY for supplies, I chose to purchase the wires and ends separately and fit them to my 23-6-48 myself, great guy to deal with and talk with, everyone on the forum is very helpful, there are so few of us with 23's

The book that Brian refers to shows 4 cylinder - 23-36,37 and 38 as having optional heaters (all closed cars), 35 is open? so maybe that exhaust pipe with the crude cutout was the only replacement piece they could find and wrapped it - Jim

Just located on page 49 reference (six cylinder 23 series) - car heater equipment - specific to 41, 47, 48 and 50 - states to order direct from Perfection Heater Mfg. of Cleveland Ohio - does list parts, so I suspect a dealer would install like any other options if requested by owner
-
Our 23-6-48 has the Perfection Heater and as all know, the plug you speak of has nothing to do with the heater, there is a flapper valve built into the exhaust two to three feet ahead of the plug in the elbow, you pull a lever at the front seat to open at different intervals to allow the exhaust to divert to the heater, which has its own exhaust system, problem with them over time was people were being asphyixiated from not maintaining the heater, as far as who installed it "apples to apples" - In all of my service manuals I find no mention of a perfection heater, but when you google it, it orginated in Cleveland Ohio 1915 - The Perfection - Spring Service Company of Ohio - just my three cents worth, hello Brian and nice article Terry in the Bugle - stay healthy all
-
Good morning all - my 23 Opera coupe has the plug as referenced on page 51, - book says for engine firing but I suspect (humor) it was an early type of "glass pack" or "loud pipes save lives" if removed as HD riders say - be healthy all!

Would you please post the info for the Charlotte meet - host hotel info ect, I believe I had it, but since there is nothing to do in upstate NY but clean and refile during the lock down, I guess it got tossed - thanks

Looks great Mark, a mirror imagine of my 23-6-48, did you put a filter in your top return (that's why the two radiator hoses) and just a suggestion - what ever you use in your radiator I would open the water pump pet cock to ensure no air is left in the pump thus causing a cavitation - cant wait for warm weather up here in upstate NY

I just called and was told that my reservation was cancelled on 4/3/2020 by the host hotel, waiting on an e-mail that they said they will send after I hung up

My six cylinder 1923 series parts book shows timing gear set 159366 - includes crank, cam, water pump, gears and woodruff key

Mark - take it from one who did this - me - make sure that nipple lines up with the top of the pump, if it is not installed properly then you will only burn the gas in the canister, there wont be any suction - I too used cork gaskets with a little bit of sealer

Andy - the thread that Brian and Terry are talking about was very helpful ,(Hubert's) as I redid my 23 water pump this last August, my problem was with my impellor and a strange coating of a latex material, removed it, sand blasted and coated it with JB weld - works like original now. I used glands from Bob's Auto as packing material. From reading your original post, it sounds like your shaft is scoured and is chewing up the packing - just my two cents but try using emery cloth to clean both sides of the shaft on both sides of the pump, then repack tighten but not over tight as you need a little leakage to lubricate before removing the whole unit.

That is the part, just curious, it does make the wires lay side by side and neater, thanks Larry for replying!

Dad and I visited his shop several years ago, we didn't buy a pre made set, instead bought the pieces parts from him and made our own, if I'm not mistaken our center wire for our 23 was a different thickness as Larry states, have had no issue with them. Real nice fellow and very helpful. Terry - the end caps snap on top of the plugs and fit snug. Larry - just a question - do you have a small piece of metal that holds the wires under the cover that secures them? Hope everyone is doing well!

When you live in the northeast and don't have a heated garage for your cars you search the internet and help fellow enthusiast - it looks like you have a 1922 Marvel model H carburetor

Happy Holidays - I have a 65 Custom Sport Riv and I replaced my line with a basic air line from NAPA, it needs to be a snug fit on both ends - the line worked for me
