I’ve in my engine (1928, 274ci) add about 2-3 thou to make room for expanding metal. So, .010 or ..011 is a good set. Ofcourse check later when hot for .008.

I will. I thought it looked like it could happen to work on it without removal but wanted to be sure! Last I ran it in June the antifreeze leaked out. Got busy with other projects and this got on the back burner since I couldn’t drive it.

Thank you Rayburr . I couldn’t find any info to it.

I’ll try to link it Larry. Many different sellers have tin caps and has brass caps. Looked it over I don’t see one exactly like the one pictured. More 1920s style.
I’ll keep looking though -
There is a lot of this style of caps on eBay. One set looked brand new. Good luck hunting.

Hi Bob. Sorry about my absence from here.
No presently I’m not doing that as of yet. Car is in storage. Will be working on some water leaks and getting temp gauge to function while water is out of it.
I see your emails to me and I’ll be responding to them.
Thank you
Grant

Now what I’m wondering is has anyone changed over to sealed bearings ? If so, good results? Part numbers?
-
The grease cap is for squeezing grease into bearing as needed. It doesn’t lock into position, mine don’t. During normal lube times you turn it in as much as needed to put grease in bearing.
it’s like the old brass grease cup.- 1

I've been using Evans for 3 years due to foaming, and have no complaints except the car runs hot. I have a meat thermometer hooked up to the return tube which tells me the coolant is always cool, and the radiator is always cool, but the infrared thermometer aimed at the head reads 250 after a long drive, I think that's too hot. It's 40 degrees hotter than the boiling point of pure water. Evans never boils over which is great, but it doesn't cool as well as water or a 50/50 mix. I never tried Zerex G-05, if it's true that it doesn't foam maybe it'll get my car to run cooler than Evans.
That’s disappointing to hear it runs that much hotter. I liked the idea it’s not water base for the metals.

I ended up with that distributor off eBay and an Oldsmobile one that he had with a gear on it. I don't know yet if I have a distributor gear that will work or not. Also looks like the olds distributor might be an option for the Buick. I'm going to try and figure this out today.
Bobs sells new gears still I believe

I bought a new casting for a 1928 274ci. I think he was in the state on NY. I’ll try to come up with his business name. He does marine stuff too
Well I went and looked and his eBay page is gone. Sorry I’m no help there.
Bobs might have one. I know he has stuff like that for 1929 and newer. -
