  1. Cars were hard to get after WW2 you had to put your name on a waiting list the demand was so high , dealers would load up cars with options for higher profits as they knew it would sell ,also to get around prices set by government regulators in early post war era so white wall may have been on car when delivered.

  2. Hello ,Coker and Diamond back both make wide white wall radial tires that look like bias ply you may want to check on them,I plan on getting a set for my 49 Super convertible they were factory equipment on that model.Gary Nice 47 Convertible by the way!!

  6. Sorry to hear of your leaving you and the forum have been quite a help in my quest for Buick knowledge, Definitely you will be missed but I understand 10 years is a long time for a position I usually didn’t last that long in paid jobs! Thank you again for your excellent leadership and please keep in contact with the forum.Gary

  7. Hello LeBaron Bonney has an interior kit for this model check online for current price and request samples. I Recently had the top chrome for my 49 Super redone it was about 1300$ for all 12 pieces which would be similar to your car, also bought a new top also available from LB or ARO 2000 once again check online for pricing.Hope this helps and best of luck.

  8. If it were me I would go with the suggestion from Mr Du Val,that is to have separate 12 battery for the windows,a small motorcycle or lawn tractor comes to mind .It could be mounted under hood or in trunk accessible for charging with a battery charger and wire it away from rest of car just for windows operation.I did a similar setup in my 49 Hudson to power a 12 sound system was less invasive to the car but would have to recharge battery but this wasn’t that bad , it would stay changed for quite a while, just charge when car is not in use.You may want to give that a try maybe the fastest and easiest way to power the windows. I assume the windows in the doors are the only ones powered?Another power source maybe at jump box for dead battery some have a 12 outlet that you could us as your power supply.Gary

  9. My 49 was converted to 12 volt they had changed the starter to a 12 volt hi torque and it has a later 12 volt generator and regulator on it all bulbs were changed to 12 volt however there is a step down to 6 volt for the original radio. If it hadn’t been changed I would have left it 6 volt.As previously posted a 12 step up just for the windows may be the fastest way for your problem.

  10. Hi as far as I know on the convertibles the interior moldings and dashboard, inner area around windshield etc were painted the body color on correctly restored and original cars .Closed cars ,sedan and sedanettes are painted a two tone gray color no matter what exterior color was. I think Buick started this on open cars on the 1941 model.Hope this helps.Gary

  11. Hello,as Dan O says Lebaron Bonney has a kit for the 49 I believe my car has a LB kit that was put in my car before I bought it. I also bought the top from ARO 2000 but haven’t installed it yet.The Super have two styles of upholstery,a cloth and leather combination on seats and a leather seat similar to a Roadmaster.LB makes both but color are limited to red or black. Most surviving or restored cars seem to have the red no matter what the body color is .Both LB and ARO will send samples on request.Good luck on your Buick.Gary
