`64 Chassis Service Manual calls for placement on the left front body hinge pillar above the lower hinge. My manual has been incorrect before. I`m guessing that as it has dimples for mounting holes and what looks like some adhesive residue on the back , that it was mounted on the cowl. Another mystery solved. Thanks Boys!

I wonder how deep the trim rings are ?

So , adding to my jigsaw puzzle, I found my vin tag in one of the many boxes that came with my `64. Now my manual states to mount it above the lower hinge on the left hand side hinge pillar . I cant find any hole to attach the tag to the hinge pillar. Can anyone show me a picture of this mounting?

The center caps look like `66s (my computer screen is small) Did he strip the black paint off? Anyway, I think it`s an innovative way to dress up ratty road wheels.

Water not only seeps, it gathers. The angle of the window channel sits so that water will stand in the channel. When you wash your car be sure to use compressed air to blow the channel dry. Water will also wick its way into the trunk floor causing it to rust. The body mount under the trunk is shaped like a cup. It will, after time, gather dirt in the cup and the dirt will hold water. After some time, the trunk floor will begin to rust above those cups. Just remember that rust never sleeps.

That`s a good tip Ed, I will now blow down that area after I wash my car, Thanks !

Just doing rust repairs on my 63 rear screen area. Scott - can you recommend the screws and clips you used?
thanks
Matt
CARS old buick parts has them but I got mine from a local auto supply, they are a standard GM clip used on many cars for many years.

I just finished a re and re on my rear window. I installed new clips and screws (The ledge that window fits had already been repaired )I found one more leak during a flood test that turned out to be a small leak through the screw threads on one fastener.I couldn`t access the screw as it was between the glass and the ledge. I marked the screw location on the glass with a grease pencil, and cut an access hole below the window on the inside on the package tray lip on the top below the window.I was able to seal the screw with Sika - Flex Marine sealant, no more leak.replaced a disc to fill the access hole that will be behind the package tray. I would suggest sealing the backside of all molding that you can access .water can seep in the smallest places.

I just went out to the garage to check, the original fuzzies are flat and the repops are the same v shaped replacement. Curious stuff what?

Put the clips on the moldings first. Then tap the molding on the car with a rubber mallot. This will prevent the clips from falling into the twilight zone. Hope this helps. Gene.
Thanks Gene!

Good gents it`s for me to install the horse shoe moldings on my`64,I did a search but no help.should I stick the clips in the car and then put the molding on or put them on the molding first and push them into the slots on the car? I don`t know why but I`m dreading this job, Thanks, Scott

As I have mentioned many times before , I bought my car in boxes. I didnt remove the moldings and now it`s time to re install . The ones that I am scratching my head about are the door reveal ones starting at the vent window . The manual says they are attached with screws. I have all new fuzzies and know how to attach those to the molding but I don`t get the screw idea. Does it screw through the fuzzy after it is attached to the molding? Seems to me they would scratch the window. Can someone steer me in the right direction ? Thanks, Scott

Search for Anco U-18R wiper blade refills. You can find them online or some local jobbers carry them. Refills is the key word in your search.

Thanks Ed !

The only Restoration shop that I use is attached to my house. If I sent out all the repairs ,bodywork and paint , I could never afford this hobby. I was blessed with good hand skills and earned my living as a wood worker.I wish I had deep pockets because I would be driving after eight years. Oh well I have all the upholstery parts now so we are getting close. Good luck what ever way you go!

Perhaps an automotive re-builder for starters / alternators might be a source.
I took apart my seat motor and replaced all the old dry grease with new and it made the world of difference. these motors are not in continues use so even after 50 + years they dont get much use. I replaced all my window motors with new Dorman units and they work really well.

Clean out remaining gasket, use a product called Form -A- Gasket and form a new bead . let it cure and away you go. I think this product is basically silicone with some additives. Hope this helps,Scott

There is another set for 1965.
Yes but there is another set for the red lens ...sneaky buggers eh?

So I am reinstalling my tail lights after years of laying on the shelf. I seem to remember two sets of gaskets , one for the red lens and one for the bezel am i correct in my assumption? I ask because after a leak test I`m getting water in the trunk. I installed the only gaskets that I had and they were for the bezel. ...Thanks,Scott
