  1. Does anyone know the idle rpm on a 1936 dodge d2 . the carb is a single barrel carburator
  2. Do any of you know the idle rpm on the Dodge d2 ? The carb is a single barrel Stromberg. Currently the rpm is 600. It seems a little high to me. Also if the number 1 hole is 95lbs could it be a stuck valve ?
  3. Looking for the original dash knobs for a 19e6 Dodge d2 sedan or where I can find the letters and I'll apply them to my replica knobs.
  4. thank you for all your imput
  5. awhile back i posted a question concerning this issue and i received many responses which are greatly appreciated. i had one more thought myself on this problem and would appreciate any feedback. i noticed some sooty moisture coming from the tailpipe at initial start up. compreesion on all cylinders except number 1 are 102lbs and number 1 at 95 lbs. could there be a cross breach in the head gasket at number 1 piston / valve? there is no water in the oil.
  6. Thanks everyone for your input. I haven't had the opportunity to solve the issue. I'm going to give it a go today and get back to you as soon as I find out.
  7. the motor is fairly fresh. I've checked the timing etc. i took the car with my brother at around 30 mph there was this steady vibration. i'm thinking possibly the drive shaft. any suggestions. also are these cars noted for vapor lock when driving in hot temperatures.
  8. Thank you for the imput. All the plugs have soot residue from the unleaded fuel. I ran it last night and saw no moisture per se coming out of the tail pipe. I'm wondering if it's condensation in the pipe. I found one of the vacuum advance lines to be faulty ; fixed that problem and reset the timing. It was off because I had previously set it when I had the unknown vacuum leak.
  9. I posted earlier this month about rough idling. Checked vacuum and it's in range . Reset points and timing.Checked head bolt torgue it was fine. Went thru carb and everything was fine except float level;reset. All piston compression tests showed 102 lbs except number 1 which was 95 lbs. I noticed though moisture was coming out of tailpipe still after running awhile. Haven't checked valve tappet clearances yet, not sure of the sequence from front to back. The moisture concerns me. At first I thought it was condensation in the exhaust system but after running awhile and coming out when I accelerate causes me some concern..
  10. I've checked everything that I've posted as far as vacuum , timing, points, plugs, compression. Everything is fine except for #1hole is 95 lbs while the rest are 102. Was thinking valve adjustment since hasn't been done since the rebuild and the engine only has about 250 miles on it.
  11. Will do. Does anyone know if there is cold valve adjustment setting ?
  12. Noticed a little oil burning out of the oil blow by tube.
  13. I realize I didn't have to remove the distributor but actually it was easier for me. The vacuum was not sporadic. Steady a 20mmHg. I was thinking of valve adjustment. Never had doe it while engine was in the car.
  14. Well Rusty, I decided it was easier to remove the distributor and test as you described There were a couple screws loose on the vacuum unit; tightened those and tested. It's working properly. I had set the point gap while on the car earlier but I think sometimes that can't always be accurate; so bench checked and reset the points; they were a bit closed. Put the unit back in the car, reset the timing at 4 ATDC and checked the vacuum which ended up at 20mmHg. Car is running a lot smoother. Still a slight bit of roughness or miss. I wonder if maybe caused by valve lash. I was thinking #1 piston that was about 7 lbs than the rest of the cylinders.I recall recently rebuilding the carb.
  15. I'll give that a try . Thank you.
  16. Thank you. I'll give that a try.
  17. Well hooked up line back to vacuum advance on distributor cranked her over and sadly back to the same miss. Running slightly rough. As before. Don't know much about vacuum advance system.
  18. Thanks Rusty and Stude17. Read the questions on ignition timing . Cleaned the spark plugs, checked gap reinstalled and did a vacuum check. Interesting when I hooked up the tester just before the vacuum advance on the distributor the rough idle smoothed out. The initial vacuum was 16 mmHg so I turned the distributor to get 18mmHg. Ran smooth. Thinking there maybe something wrong with my connection to the vacuum advance or vacuum leak somewhere.
  19. Rusty, did the compression test. #1@95 lbs, #2 thru #6 @102 lbs. Notice the plugs were rather sooty. Like she's running rich.
  20. Thank you. Going to attempt today.
  21. Quick question. What is the cylinder compression?
  22. Thanks everyone for your advice.
