Just seeing this post now. Glad you enjoyed seeing our 1930 Cadillac Series 452 Roadster at the La Jolla Concours.

We may have spent a premium for this Cadillac, but...find another one! This was custom order the way you see it by a Mr. Floyd Becker in NJ.

The artillery wheels and rear spares are just the start to a list of custom touches like a modified top, cute seat cushions, and custom door pockets.

It is one of our favorites in the fleet, and it now drives as good as it looks. No trailer queen here. We did 70 miles the day after this photo.

Funny that the hubcaps are mentioned on this thread, as I sadly lost one on the tour!

If any San Diegoans find a "V16" badge on the side of the road I can promise you I know who it belongs to!!

I stopped in at a private car museum in Valentine Nebraska many years ago. In his hubcap display was a wood wheel V-16 hubcap. I tried pretty hard to buy it but I couldn't make a deal. I'm sure that old fellow is long gone, always wondered what might have become of that one. He had nothing else along those lines.

  2. Someone that has a Saxon with erratic charging should buy that and get it restored just in case. Verses taking the one off their car, sending it to a rebuild shop somewhere and hope they see it again. They probably will but while it's gone, the car is undrivable. I've seen countless Wanted ads over the years by people that sent their part somewhere and the ad said something like- The plater ruined my part so I need another one,the shop that had my part went broke and it's gone, the shop burned down and my part with it. That's the advantage of having an extra one,you have it rebuilt, get it back and when you have a little time you swap it out on your car.

I tried to email you but the msg would not go through. Do you have any pictures and where are you located?

  4. Good straight sheetmetal, obviously incomplete, will need new wood, some internals and other parts. Some lower pitting, don't see any rustout. Identification is tentative and believed correct but not guaranteed so look them over and make sure they're the ones you need before you buy. They are 30" wide on the top,a hair under 45 1/2" tall. One still has the glass hanging in it. $350 for the pair. Prefer they be picked up,can ship if necessary.

  5. It has been restored for two or three years and he is aware of all the hurdles he will need to jump through. In the throws of the Great Depression I'm guessing that Chrysler, like all the manufacturers, interchanged as many parts as possible between their makes to save extra tooling costs. According to him, most of the other companion makes would work. Hoping for any leads or possibilities.

  6. A friend bought the body, has it totally restored on a chassis but needs the top frame. It's not a rod or resto rod,but restored as close to original as he could get it. It is believed that DeSoto,Dodge,Plymouth and small Chrysler all used basically the same top frame in 32 and maybe a year or two either way. He's not a cheapskate,he'll buy one,pay to have one like yours made,or whatever it takes. I'm in Cheyenne,he's 100 miles South in Denver,Colorado and not in the AACA. Very much appreciate any help.

  7. I'm parting out this frame after getting the parts I needed. These spring covers are in pretty good shape but not perfect. They are a bunch of small sheetmetal pieces fastened together. Some have minor damage and there is surface rust but no heavy rust issues.

There were two Alemite fitting in each spring so grease can be forced in to lubricate the leaves and prevent rust, one is missing but I probably have one around here. All the spring joints are in good shape and show very little wear. The bolts are included. Like to get $450 for the set plus shipping. These are heavy and will be expensive to ship. Maybe two in one box and one in another,or maybe all three separately. In one of the rear covers is stamped "Alemite Lubricating Spring Covers Prodect of Bassick MFG Co Chicago. There are patent dates on 1917 and 1919. One spring main leaf is stamped 32704 11-21,the other 32705 12-21. Both are stamped W&H ROWLAND  SILICO-MANG,PHILADELPHIA.

  8. Most of my DeWalt stuff is 18 volt. Just wondering if anyone has bought those cheap replacemant batteries all over ebay and if they are any good. I bought a 20 volt battery at Home Depot with an adapter so it could be used on an 18 volt drill or whatever,it charged up in 30 seconds, ran down in 20 seconds. I took it back. My drill works fine but held together with a hose clamp so it may be time to start modernizing but I still have the sawzall, impact, grease gun and grinder so I'm not sure. Appreciate any info.
