  1. Ok i bought from Ebay the chrome piece that goes on the dash and the seller said it is for 56 Super/Roadmaster but its not. it Fits Special/Century. So im looking to Buy/Trade/Sell the one i have for one that fits my Roadmaster. The one i bought has really good shine into it. Located in Wilkes-Barre PA 18706.
  2. Do you come down Wilkes-Barre at car shows etc? Thats a nice find
  3. Thanks Ed, i actually found another post of somebody asking pretty much the same questions as i do. Tom Mooney helped him out: 4F Remote control outside rear view mirror 5K Door edge guards Thats what i have so far. Is EXF mean that car was exported?
  4. Hi, i've been trying to find online a way to decode the trim tag of my 66 Riviera. So far i know where the car was built, the exterior and interrior colors. If i'm right the last codes indicate some options my car had. Anybody happen to know what the EXF 2KR, 4F 5K or the 09C number on top of the tag suppose to be? Or anybody happen to know another page that has all the code options and can post a link, i would appreciate that. Also i see that the 618 interior is the black optional Vinyl Strato Bench seat but what does the -D letter mean? Thanks
  5. Haven't done that much research on the Rivieras yet, I can't upload pics from my phone so I'll upload more when I get to my computer. By the way any visual differences between the base model and the GS? Like bucket seats, grille etc
  6. I was supposed to pull the motor out but weather is against me. Here are some pictures
  7. I haven't tried to turn it over but from what I've seen I would assume the same
  8. First of all, I love Nailheads, my only intension for the 455 swap was so I can have the car running while I'm rebuilding the 425. Thanks for the feedback. Also I will upload pictures probably tomorrow when I pull the motor out. Water went from the carburetor because for unknown reasons the previous owner removed the air cleaner. Also spark plugs were missing when I bought the car. I pulled the dipstick and the motor has about 10 gallons of old oil and water mixed, honestly it looks like the motor was in a flood with all the sludge. The car has 81k miles on the odometer which makes me think they are original since it was driven for 13 years
  9. As you said im into restoring cars back to the original condition or try to be close to original. i was thinking to drop in the 455 in the car so i can have it running this Summer and rebuild the 425 if i can save the motor. The problem with the 425 other than the bent pushrod is that there is water in the engine and its been sitting without sparkplugs for a while. Car was last inspected in 79. Thanks for the advice.
  10. So i bought a 1966 Riviera thats been sitting since 1979. i found water in the 425 and when i pulled the valley pan i found a bent pushrod. i can buy a cheap 455 Buick but i know 66 they never had that motor. I need suggestions, keep the car original with the 425 nailhead or swap to 455. I love to keep it original but its cheaper to built a 455 and you can find them everywhere.
  11. Instead of clicking view profile check if you can click view gallery uploads
  12. hey John if you check my profile i have an album about the car. My car is a 2 tone, originally Laurel Green with White roof.
  13. i order a sample from SMS and the quality is amazing. Price seems fair since these fabrics are hard to find/make. Thanks again for the info on SMS Auto Fabrics
  14. I was wondering if i can get a trim tag from the VIN number of the car. If the trim tag is missing is there anyway to find out the original color of the car, the interrior color etc? Im talking specifically for a 66 Riviera
  15. Hey Matt thanks ill let you know. On top of my head i need the chrome piece that goes on the dash. I bought one from Ebay but i didnt know the length differs between Roadmaster/Super and Century/Special. Also i need a windshield which is around 600$ new and i dont feel like spending that much. I went to Englers couple months ago and he had few Buicks but most of the parts are beyond repair.
  16. Thanks John, i'll contact SMS Auto Fabrics and see if i can get the fabrics.
  17. Thanks Gary and John from what i see most of the fire is around the heating unit so could be ether that or wiring problem. As i said the car was under restoration by the previous owner so he could have messed something up with the wiring.
  18. Hello, im looking to buy the fabrics to do the upholestrery for my 56. Anyone knows where i can buy the fabrics cause ive been looking online and i cant find the specific patern. I am looking for the TRIM 712. Thank you.
  19. Hello everyone, there is a story behind my 56 Roadmaster desire. I'm originally from Greece but i live the last 6 years in Wilkes Barre, PA where i study. My uncle back in Greece boughta 73R 1956 Buick Roadmaste four door Riviera around 30 years ago and later on found out that he is the second owner and the first owner was one of the richest people in Greece back in 50s-60s. It is possible to be the only 56 Roadmaster in Greece. Car was in bad shape missing the drivetrain, bumpers were in bad shape, floors gone and since there arent easy ways to find parts he gave up on it. Since i was little kid i always showed interest on the car and we had big plans for it but after managing to come to the US to study i decide to look for a similar car. I've been looking for a four door Roadmaster since 2008 and then i found this in Miami, FL. The car was originally from Kansas and somebody was restoring it. The car caught fire and the everything around the firewall is in bad shape. Due to the damage the car has a salvage title which i didnt know till i bought the car ( i dont really mind that). I found out that the car was listed in an auction in Kansas and the collision center in FL bought the car and then me. Body is in alright shape, chrome was replaced and is in good shape other than the pieces that were on fire. There are few things that are warped due to the fire but it doesnt look bad to me. the Carburator melted so i havent tried to start the engine. Fluids look alright. I took everything out of the interrior, cleaned all the broken glasses and start working on the floors. there are some patches not done the way i want them so im replacing them. I used Por15 on the floors and trunk. I really want to do a frame off restoration but i would love to fire it up and take it for a ride as soon as possible. The pictures show the condition of the car when i bought it. My uncle sent me alot of parts from his car. Right now im rebuilding the steering column and trying to make a new harness for the car. I will upload more pictures with my progress. Thank you.
