  1. Hello - Can anyone help in identifying this automobile make/model/year. This is a photo for a family genealogy book. Many Thanks!!! John Berg 1948 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet
  2. I would definitely do the fuel stabilizer - full tank of fuel (minimize air space and condensation) - float charger on the battery (not a regular charger - one meant for storing batteries) - as stated above - try to keep humidity and temperature fluctuations to a minimum - change oil and new filter and a dust cover ("duststop" car cover) - and a good coat of your favorite wax. Either a cat or mouse traps to keep the little mammals away - that can cause the worst damage to a vehicle. Seems like a lot - but keeps the car as good as the day you put it away.
  3. 1948 Cabriolet V-12 - Does anyone make the factory style restoration accessory drive belt (for the waterpumps and genny off the crank)? Also - what spark plug came from the factory - was it the Champion H10? I am just tired of watching the word "DAYCO" go round and round on my very much stock restored factory engine:
  4. The interior is burgundy - I'll post some pics when I get home.
  5. and then there are the snopes that suck the energy out of idle batteries - so beware!!!
  6. Reference needed - My kids bumped into the outside passenger mirror on my 48 Lincoln and fractured the pot metal base where it bolts to the body. Anyone know of a good metal repair and re-chrome provider? I found Spokane Metal Finishing - but know nothing about them - also would like to possible find something closer to Illinois. Many Thanks!
  7. For my 48 connie - my speedo is not functioning - cable is intact as the odometer advances. I have contacted Bob''s speedo in MI for repair - any pointers on how to remove the speedo from the dash panel - looks like very close quarters and could use any tips anyone might have. Thank You!
  8. Thank you all very much for this help. I really appreciate it.
  9. So when you say offset drive tab - there is only one way to install the distributor correctly? That was one on my concerns was to install the distributor in the correct timing orientation.
  10. for my 1948 Connie - I have the breaker gap specs - .015" - do I need to remove the distributor from the car to do this? Any help pics, pointers appreciated. I have gone thru most of the old service manuals, no good diagrams on how to do this. Thanks!
  11. I went with the Royal Purple HPS 10W-40 - has been great and good ZDDP levels.
  12. That is exactly what I used when duplicating the color on my 48. The paint shops can scan the color chip and give you the correct color mix.
