  1. Looking for 1935 Dictator front grill in any condition. Ken, Deltaville, Va Found grille.
  2. Looking for 510166, rear mounting bracket; 510205, cross member engine support; 510479, motor mount. Ken, Deltaville, Va Parts found
  3. I had to open up a wire harness on a replacement harness for a 1935 car. Does anyone sell antique harness wrap? Do not want to use plastic wrap found on modern cars. Ken, Deltaville,Va Thanks to all, found everything at Rhode Island Wiring.
  4. Looking for 1935 Dictator window crank. Would prefer original, non-rechromed crank. Ken,Deltaville Va Found crank, but could use a better interior door handle. Ken
  5. For for 4 door 1935 Dictator: correct air cleaner, stainless strip that attaches rubber cover on running board, and stainless piece that is used to make the 90 degree turn at the bottom of the trunk chrome welting, window crank. Ken, Deltaville, Va Speedometer cable found.
  6. Assume front andhave back fenders are supposed to have black welting, trunk, silver/chrome. Is that correct? The only welting on the car when bought was silver around trunk opening. Ken, Deltaville, Va
  7. Looking for silver welting for trunk of a 1935 Studebaker and need black original type welting for fenders. Found extruded black rubber on ebay (not acceptable) but could not find silver. Also need the pad that goes under the fabric roof. Any recommendation? Ken
  8. Thanks for your thoughts but one can easily believe that any sale that has a "reserve" is a "FISHING EXPEDITION" and is saying "it is either for sale, or not" . In any case it sold within 2 hours of posting and was offered more than asking price. The basic problem with this sale was that it represented an acknowledgement that it was the 44 year old family car, with all its emotional attachments, that reaffired our advanced age. Ken
  9. They will make one. If I can not find an original I'll add it to the list of parts from them. Thanks. Ken
  10. Need part 186069, it's the "ball" on top of the shift lever for a 1935 Dictator. SI does not have the correct ball. Ken, Deltaville, Va
  11. it is for sale, 5K or best reasonable offer.
  12. Car will go an ebay this summer. $5,000 or best reasonable offer.
  13. I think the degree of success for this type chrome alternative is how much attention is payed to its application, similar to painting a car. In the first video the person was treating bumpers, which would not be a good candidate. Subsequent videos showed more carefully applied applications and the large Honda logo, appears very good (almost unbelievable). It would appear that this is not a DIY project, even though Home Depot sells the Killer Chrome stuff. What drew my attention to this technique was re-chrome of a delicate Studebaker part that would run the risk of being destroyed in the electroplate process. A couple of years ago spray chrome was tried by two different vendors with marginal to unsatisfactory results but the process was not like what is seen some of the videos. Would still like to hear from professionally applied Killer Chrome customer. Ken, Deltaville VA
  14. Have been researching what some refer to as "painted chrome". Two early vendor (1 in Va, 1 in Fl) attempts to paint similar stuff were marginal to unsatisfactory. Have located Alsa KMC Corp that has a product "Killer Chrome". Video and "user" comments appear positive. Has any one used this stuff and/or had a vendor apply it and if so what were the results? Ken, Deltaville, Va
  15. Looking for air cleaner, right side wiper body, arms and blades, and hub caps. Please let me know if you have these parts or might know who might have them. Ken, Deltaville, Va
  16. Thanks for information, have placed order. I have another question, the parts manual lists "shock seat" part#185132 (bronze). The shocks were removed prior to my buying the car. The rubber bushings and bronze seats were in an unmarked can and I am not sure where the bronze parts go or how many are needed, or what purpose they serve. Help. Ken, Deltaville Va
  17. Does anyone know of a source for the shock seat part 185132 and cushion 185133 and 18321? These are the metal and rubber "balls" that fit on the the link that connects the shock to the frame. on a 35 Dictator. Ken, Deltaville Va
  18. Thanks, lower pan is removed, and can see what you are talking but can not get my hand up and through the narrow passage to insert the spacer. Was your radiator and grill installed when sliding the spacer in place? My grandson will visit in a few weeks and maybe his hand will fit up into the space long enough for the bolt to be inserted. Ken
  19. Is there a "trick" in installing a radiator in a 1935 Dictator? It was removed as a "unit" that included the radiator shell and front grill. This required the two "spacers" to be removed from inside the front fenders. These spacers fell to the floor when the bolts were removed. If the radiator is reinstalled as a "unit" I can not figure out how the spacers can be reinstalled as access to them is blocked by the radiator. Help would be appreciated. Ken, Deltaville, Va
  20. Hi Don, I have posted a list on this forum twice in October, a combined almost 200 views, but no replies. I did buy a core EX-23 from you and an original manual from RBK. Found lens and a few other parts on Ebay and leads from this and the Studebaker forum. SI, who usually has every possible part for post war cars had only one part from my list of about 25 parts. In some cases I have the part but am looking for a better part. After several decades of frame off post war Studebakers, I took on this 35 Dictator project, and soon realized parts are very difficult to find, an observation noted by others on the forum. I am still working on it and am grateful for the support received from guys like you and others, who have answered many questions as even the documentation for pre war cars is not a good as post war documentation. Ken, Deltaville, Va
  21. I'll try SI again, but so far, of a list of about 25 parts they came up with one, right side wiper motor. Pulled the gas tank out today and it needs to be replaced sending uni checked out. Also there is a round "cap" on top of the tank on the opposite end of the gas intake; is that some kind of "breather"? Ken, Deltaville, Va
  22. The engine runs fine, but I have found two broken off exhaust manifold bolts and can not get one freeze plug to stop leaking. Plan to have machine shop fix. Question is are manifold and exhaust pipe gaskets available? if so who has them? Not sure of part numbers, engine is in a 1935 Dictator. Would it use the same gasket as a 1935 engine? Ken, Deltaville, Va When car was bought, I found and bought an original 1935 manual, but I subsequently found out car's engine was 1936. Then bought SI's master catalogs 1934-46; and 1929-1940. Those two manuals appear to be in a foreign language. I find the post war Studebaker reprint catalogs are far more useful. Ken, Deltavilel Va Also, what does "O" warning points mean?
  23. After many years of frame off Studebakers, all but one was a rust bucket, you are right, this would be a great beginner car especially for a DIYer to drive or hot rod without much worry and or effort. I have searched Ebay and Hemmings and can not find a comparable car, they are either 350 converted, or in bad shape. My feeling at this point is that I will not be able to hot rod this car and I am open to offers, which is what would happen if I put it on Ebay
  24. It was painted about 10-15 years ago, it's the original silver color for that year. Have not set price as I do not know enough about Nova pricing, and in fact may not sell it. For decades my efforts have been with Studebaker restoration and am currently working on a 35 model.
