  1. Long story sort of short.....I recently purchased this truck from a local friend here in Athens, OH. 1940 Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup. He purchased it from a bank in Logan, Ohio that had seized it about 8 years ago along with a '37 Ford Phaeton convertible.... perhaps a loan on a restaurant in Columbus, Ohio that went bad???... It was owned by a gentleman from North East, MD . Apparently his wife purchased it for him as a birthday gift. She enlisted the help of a friend of theirs from Wilmington, DE. who was affiliated with Merrill Lynch. I can only guess that this man was also a car guy. I've spoken with the guy from MD, who now lives in Florida......he tells me that the guy that helped his wife find the truck is now deceased, and he doesn't know any history of the truck prior to his ownership. He seemed to think that the truck was a "one-family" truck, and the 56,000 miles shown on the odometer may very well be accurate. I'm certain that someone somewhere knows this truck and hopefully some of it's history......it's too nice and too unique to be a ghost. It has a dark royal blue body with black fenders, and appears that it was frame off restored and some point during the last 10-15 years (just my guess based on it's condition). It has what I believe to be it's original driveline, an inline six with a 4-speed manual transmission. If anyone recognizes it, or any part of the story, I'd really appreciate hearing from you. Fwiw, my interest is solely for the purpose of learning the history of this really cool truck.....we are going to use it in our business as an "ambassador of good will". Thanks much in advance....... Chris Lance. Athens, Ohio
