  1. Sure enough extended it. Owner let me know a few hours ago she lifted reserve.
  2. I do not feel the auction company in this case is one best used for this purpose. It seems to be more of a company for foreclosed properties and repossessed things. I do not know why they didn’t empty the car out and take pictures of the interior without all the seats and clutter inside of it. They really didn’t excite on the car by saying that it was rust free and in really good shape. I would think it would be better placed on eBay than where it’s at right now. Remember I have seen this car and have better pictures of it than they do. I would’ve taken the parts out of those boxes and taking pictures of them like I did.
  3. I was just shown the auction. It is up now. https://bid.cunninghamauctions.com/bid/71799?item=6616558&section=auction
  4. Arizona in the Mountains. Change was just starting at the show.
  5. These are extra stuff. There were two air cleaners in the car and wiring stuff in the shed. The auction company did not take the extra block. Probably did not want to lift it. They took the heads and crank.
  6. The car was already fit with the new wiring. I saw it in the car. I will ask her.
  7. The car is going to auction Friday until Wednesday Nov 3rd if anyone is interested. I will send the link when it is up.
  8. Here are some more parts. These are new cloth wire harnesses in the bag. Main harness, tail lights, overdrive, license plate lights, other. I think the chrome pieces are inside door catches , may be wrong on that. Lots of rubber parts still in the bags.
  9. So, I did not buy the car but I bought her trailer. Underneath all the debris there were these parts. Some are rusted as they have been there a while, yet most is surface rust. Do they have value? Does anyone need these? I have not gone through the boxes. I have seen wire harnesses, bolts, nuts, voltage regulators, rubber parts, steering column and stuff. Do not know what everything is?
  10. Actually most of the important parts were in boxes in the shed and look brand new. Only the gauges and bezels weathered in the cab outside. But he has new or restored gauges in the boxes. I don’t think you understand Arizona very well the car is in much better shape than everyone has been saying about it. I did not take on this project not because of the price but because I just have another project to do. Whoever gets this car is going to have a much cheaper restore than you think. So many of these parts are powder coated and refinished and the work has been done so much that it really isn’t that hard. I’ve restored vehicles and this one is pretty straightforward.
  11. If anyone wants to bid on the car it will be at www.cunninghamauctions.com
  12. After A long thread of information and responses and great contributions I have decided to let this car go to auction. After discussing things more with my wife we think the resources would best to finishing up the 53 which is still going to take me a couple of years. I have my 62 Volvo and 51 Studebaker to enjoy and I really don’t need more projects. It may be worth it but in the end it’s just a car and there’s others that will show up later. I have really appreciated all of the conversation and input. You guys are really good at what you do. I appreciate these forums and this one is as good as the Studebaker forum that I’m normally on. One consolation was she had a really nice 5 x 9’ cargo trailer that was in great shape that she sold me. I pick it up over the weekend.
  13. This is a rust free car. Under body has been powder coated. Rear end rebuilt. I have included a few more pics. There where two long bars, you can see in the bottom of one picture, with brackets connected. Do not know if those are the bows. I could not find the head piece if it had one. There are two boxes of literature about this and other Lincolns. Hand written notes about certain screws. She will give me everything that deals with the car. Spare tire holder and tire in trunk. It is painted.
  14. Update: My Mechanic friend and I went through the car more and the parts. 1. This is not a parts car. Parts are not the issue. It just needs to be put back together. The trim, small pieces, handles have been chrome or regold. 2. Many of the larger parts are powder coated. 3. Other pieces that look to be missing are in the boxes. It has two radios. Windshield and one side window will need to be replaced. Flat glass. All seats and door panels there for patterns. Would need to find someone that makes the tops without an old one for pattern. w3nDT2Nd][/url] Extra v12 block, 3 heads, crank, three steering columns and 2 steering boxes. 2 extra generators, Whether this car is for me is still open. The only trim piece that would need to be found is the left front headlight bezel. It is damaged from the dent. Not sure if the top pieces are there. Not sure what I should be looking for.
  15. A friend of mine is going with me to look it over again. He is a master mechanic and restorer. We will go over all the parts and condition and I can give a report.
  16. Thank you for the insights of other vehicles . It does give perspective.
  17. Just an interesting project. Convertibles are great in AZ. I still have this 53 Studebaker Commander project. It is in pieces right now.
  18. I agree on the fact that it can cost more to restore a car than to buy one restored. I have always fought with that when doing these cars. There’s just something in getting the old vehicles running and back on the street again that appeals. I don’t have bunches of money to waste on things but I enjoy the work. There might be a price point somewhere that makes it worth being a driver. She has invited me over to go through the 15 or so boxes of parts and pieces. At that time I’ll go through the cab of the car and see what’s underneath all the seats.
  19. The owner just text me. I guess in 1983 the car was absolutely complete. He has been working on it since. The undercarriage has been powder coated and I would agree with that with the pictures I have. She also seems to be more agreeable to negotiations on price. A very nice woman.
  20. I will give as much info I have. She is asking 12000 or OBO. If I do not purchase it it is going to auction. I think she is relying on the fact that there was a writeup in the Lincoln magazine in the 80's that the car was owned by Sally Rand. It does appear in the pics in far worst shape than it is. The interior is laid in the car. Yes it needs to be recovered. All, as far as I can tell, all the stainless and chrome is in the boxes. I have purchased much worse than this and restored them. I am not into concourse anymore. As with my Studebaker and Volvo I am after drivers and just enjoy the process and driving them. I am well aware of cost verses resale. I can say that there has been only one truck/car I had that I could not sale for more than the material costs I had in it.(not my labor of course) I do the work myself. I am not into modifieds anymore. Too much skill needed. I think the car is rather complete. I have purchased cars and the expense is when they are not complete and need the pieces. (my 51 Stude is an example of that) Thought is was a great deal until the missing pieces added up. Everything stacked in a car does not make it a parts car. As far as I can tell it will need the mechanicals worked on, flat glass replaced, tires, new interior, top and engine work. I would make it a driver. I do have a nice Studebaker 289 and auto I could transplant...just a thought. I am not bound and determined to purchase the car. I just like different. I have restored Metropolitans, Plymouths, Studebakers Orphans. One person is correct. I do not need another project. I have the 53. However I do not think , in my opinion it will be as expensive of a restore as appears since the parts are there. He bought the car running and complete in 83. Yes he disassembled it. That is why the chrome is all rechromed. He also rebuilt the trans and rear axle. I think 12000 is too much and do not know what she would land on. She seemed flexible to a point. That is a much higher starting point that I would like to be at.
  21. Yes, My current cars are a bit cheaper to restore. I also have a 53 Studebaker to to put back together.
